From the Principal’s Desk:
Welcome back from the Winter break and Happy New Year!
I hope that you are staying warm and ready for another semester here at Wisconsin Virtual Learning. Your classes and schedules are ready for the new semester and the teachers are busy grading and getting report cards ready from Semester I. Report cards will be ready soon, watch your emails. You can see grades in Family Access.
Remember that if there is a "snow day", we still have school.
Check the Outings calendar for fun family events planned for the late winter and spring time. This is a great time to get together with other families and see new places in Wisconsin.
Attention Juniors: ACT/Workkeys Testing is coming up February 28 and March 1. This is a state mandated test, and so your attendance is critical. We are cancelling classes to make it easier for families to attend. Watch your emails for details. We will have incentives for you too, so put these dates on your calendar and do your best on these tests.
I hope you have a wonderful start to Semester II!
Your partner in learning,
Karen O'Donnell

Counselor Corner:
As we transition into a new year, we will also shift into a new semester, and a step closer to warm weather, and springtime. With spring comes new beginnings, and opportunities for rebirth, renewal, and regrowth. Although we’re not quite there- we hope that you’ve recharged a bit, and identified some new personal and academic goals for the start of the new year and second semester, as it will surely be busy- with important benchmarks in each grade level.
Senior students should review their cumulative credits and second semester course load to ensure the successful completion of 22 credits required for graduation. Also, seniors should further develop their long-term/ transitional interests, and talk with family and staff members about their post-secondary plans. A senior night has been scheduled for Tuesday, 02/07 at 6:00 pm.
Juniors should be preparing for the upcoming ACT & ACT WorkKeys, a mandatory statewide assessment to be administered by Wisconsin Virtual Learning at multiple testing sites throughout the state. The tests are scheduled for Tuesday, 02/28, and Wednesday, 03/01, at 8:00 am. Students and parents will be notified of additional details, including their specific testing location, within the next few weeks.
Sophomore students should be gaining some momentum and building confidence, solidifying some of their academic interests, and joining some extracurricular functions. Wisconsin Virtual Learning offers several clubs, such as Student Council, National Honor Society, Art, Book, Gaming, STEM, and Writing Clubs. Get involved today!
Freshman should be getting accustomed to high school, and developing strong working relationships with their teachers, and student learning advocates. Students can get to know other WVL students, and staff by attending field trips, attending office hours, and actively participating in class.
