From Your Principal

October 11, 2019

Well, we're halfway through October. As usual, every month seems to fly by faster than the one before. In the blink of an eye we will be planning for end of year activities. Thank you for your continued support. One of the reasons that teachers choose to work at Stott is the tremendous support from families. Strong partnerships make all the difference for students!

Halloween reminders

  • Students should arrive at school at 8:30 as usual – dressed in costume.

  • Parade will start inside at 8:45. We will start with kindergarten classes and make our way around the hallways to the gym. Best viewing will be in the gym.

  • Classroom parties will start at 9:00, or as soon as the parade is finished.

  • Parties need to be over by 10:00, and a regular day of learning will follow.

  • Students must be able to remove their costume and all make-up after the party. Please send them with appropriate clothes to change into after the party.

  • No weapons of any kind will be allowed with costumes.

  • If students wear a mask, they must be able to clearly see out of the mask.

  • Please minimize the appearance of blood and gore.

  • If you choose not to participate in the Halloween festivities, please be at school and ready to learn by 10.

Cold Weather Policy - Recess

With this early snow, it's a great time to remind everyone about our policy for recess on inclement weather days. We do our best to get students outside for physical play and activity every day. The only time we will have an inside recess, is if the temperature falls below 20 degrees or if it is actively raining or snowing and students would get really wet. Other than that, students will go to recess. Please make sure that students are dressed for the weather with a coat and hats/gloves. Only students with boots will be allowed to go into the field if there is snow on the ground.

Reminder about Smart Watches

Please remember that smartwatches are treated in the same manner as cell phones at Stott. Students are required to have watches turned off and in their backpacks during the school day. Students will be reminded about this in classrooms. Repeated violations will result in the watch being sent to the office to be collected by parents at the end of the school day. Please help support this policy by reminding your student of the expectations.

Digital Citizenship

Please see the attached letter from Jeffco's Tech for Ed team. This addresses how we teach students about digital citizenship as well as some helpful resources for how you can support the endeavor at home.
