What You Need to Know

You are Invited to the March Parent/Guardian Workshop

Please join the CVUSD BreakThrough Student Assistance Program and The Conejo Schools Foundation for a workshop on Thursday, March 3rd at 6:00 PM. Presentations will be provided by professionals from the Ventura County Office of Education, and will be followed by Q&A time. This workshop is open to all CVUSD Parents/Guardians and students 12 years of age and older.

Meet the Presenters

Gabe Teran

Gabe holds a Master of Science degree in Management and Leadership, as well as two accredited certifications for alcohol and drug counseling in the state of California. Gabe has worked in substance use disorder treatment services specializing in treatment of adolescents, and provided individual, group, and family counseling services. He currently works in the Comprehensive Health and Prevention Programs department with the Ventura County Office of Education overseeing Ventura County’s implementation of the statewide Friday Night Live (FNL) substance abuse prevention program, with a focus on youth development and leadership.

Tina Koonce

Tina Koonce holds a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching and Learning. She has been working in education and with youth for the last 16 years, predominantly within the classroom, at afterschool programs, and in special education. Since the Fall of 2020, she has been a Project Specialist with Ventura County Office of Education. She works with Tobacco Use Prevention Education and the Friday Night Live (FNL) substance abuse prevention program for high school and middle school age youth.

Alejandra Valencia

Alejandra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and is an expert in prevention programming, health promotion and education. Alejandra's passion lies in building relationships with Ventura County school districts and collaborating with stakeholders to develop and expand youth-development programs. She maintains a primary focus on youth advocacy and equitable outcomes for local communities. Within her role at the Ventura County Office of Education she has developed and facilitated trainings in the areas of the whole-child approach, wellness, youth advocacy, the developing adolescent brain, and educational equity.
