News and Info about LaPerche Elementary--June 2018
Learning All Summer LONG!
This year, we have a new Summer Learning Guide which provides a variety of summer learning opportunities to engage all LaPerche students. Take some time to explore it with your child.
Additionally, your child may have received a packet from Mrs. Beckel, Ms. Lemoine, Mrs. Furtado, Mrs. Wrytral, Mrs. O’Hara or another teacher at LaPerche. Completing the packet or attending ESY can be indicated on your verification form as can all of the other creative ideas you think of to help your child continue to grow is all areas over the summer.
Students who complete their summer learning and return the VERIFICATION FORM by Friday, September 14 will be invited to an Outdoor Fun Festival which will take place during school on Friday, September 21.
Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Enjoy a safe, relaxing and fun-filled summer break!

Letter from LaPerche Social Worker and School Psychologist
We hope you are enjoying summer vacation! From our vantage point it seems like the year as flown. Like every year before, it has been ten amazing months full of growth and changes. We would like to thank you for allowing us to be part of your child’s life. It has been fascinating and an honor to watch them learn about themselves and the world around them.
We are writing to let you know that we will not be working at LaPerche next year. Administration is currently in the process of hiring a school psychologist that will work full time at LaPerche. Once that person is hired, the school will let you know. We will also communicate with that person regarding what we have worked on so far so they can continue what we have started. Having one full time person at LaPerche will benefit both the students, staff and families as he or she can be solely dedicated to our school.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email over the summer. Our addresses are listed below. Once again it has been a pleasure and an honor to get to know your children over the past years.
Thank you very much!
Tara Sczerbinski, LICSW
School Social Worker
Read and Roll from United Skates of America
Does your child like to read? Do they like to roller skate? Well, if they do - here’s a wonderful way to combine both. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4!
Read five books
Complete the Read and Roll Fun Pass bookmark (handed out to all students during the last week of school)--check the backpack!
Have the form signed by a teacher or librarian.
Return the completed form to United Skates of America at 75 New Road in East Providence, RI and receive a free admission pass to roller skate.
Please note that this is not an endorsement of United Skates, but rather a fun opportunity that may motivate your child to read more at home. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at Bfurtado@smithfield-ps.org. Keep Reading!
Ms. Barbara Furtado
School Supplies for 2018-2019
This year, the LaPerche PTA partnered with First Day School Supplies to create a way for you to order supplies for your child online. Saturday, June 30, is the last day to order. Check out this link for more information. Your child's supplies will be shipped to the school in August.
As always, please email school principal, Julie Dorsey, at email@example.com if purchasing school supplies is a hardship. The school will help provide what your child needs. Thank you!
