Tardies
A student shall be considered tardy if the student is not in their seat when the bell rings.
When a student is tardy to a class FIVE times it will count as ONE absence.
Steps to follow when students are tardy to 1st hour:
Students arriving on campus after the tardy bell rings for 1st hour at 8:15 AM must report to the Welcome Center to check-in.
A late arrival to school may be verified with a parent/guardian call 623-932-7600(within 24 hours), note, or in-person through the Welcome Center.
All verified and excused tardies will be limited to five per semester. All others will be considered unverified.
Consequences for unverified tardies
1st/2nd- Conference with student
3rd- Teacher contact home
4th/5th- Lunch/after-school detention
6th- Student referral and conference with their administrator
7th- student referral, conference with their administrator, and extended detention Wednesday 1:20 pm - 3:05 pm(no transportation provided).
Attendance
Students are required to attend 90% of each class by the state of Arizona. This equates to a student having a maximum of 10 absences per semester in each class.
Steps to follow when students are absent:
Please call our Attendance Line within 48 hours at 623-932-7600 to excuse your student.
Please submit all medical excuses off in the Welcome Center or via email mellis@aguafria.org.
If your student has a chronic illness that requires multiple days out, please consider having your medical professional fill out the Chronic Illness Packet. This will then need to be submitted to rsherer@aguafria.org, the school nurse.
Once a Chronic Illness Packet is on file, you would just need to call or email attendance on the date(s) of absence and reference the form.
Absence notification includes:
Automated system absence call for each period missed, if not verified prior to the absence.
A letter home after 5 absences (excused and unexcused).
Parent contact and student meeting for 8 absences or more.
Parent contact and student meeting for 10 absences or more. At this point, students may lose credit and must appeal (exemptions from this are absences due to School Business (field trips, sports, etc.) and Chronic illness(must be on file with the school nurse). All verified , unverified, sick (unless due to chronic illness) count toward the 10-day threshold and are subject to the loss of credit.
Credit Appeal: As stated in the student handbook, “In order to receive credit for the semester, 90% attendance is required in each assigned class.” This requirement is in accordance with Arizona State Law (ARS 15-803B).
Credit appeal occurs after 10 absences and is a process in which the student will continue to attend class and participate fully on a daily basis, but you and your child will be required to complete and return paperwork which will include a contract outlining attendance, academic, and behavior expectations for the remainder of the semester. You and your student will then attend a scheduled appeal at the conclusion of the semester with a panel of educators who will make a determination regarding the awarding or denial of credit.
Student Drop-off and Pick-up
If you are transporting your student to school, drop-off and pick-up are located at the front of the Welcome Center in the East lot entrance.
- Parents are prohibited from dropping off students in the student parking lot (Southwest lot), in front of the Accelerator, or the north side lots (Busses only).
Riding the Bus? Please Read: Important
Eligible students needing transportation beginning August 8th are REQUIRED to register via the Edulog app.
As before, bus information will be communicated through our smart phone application, known as "Edulog Parent Portal" and can be found on the Google Play Store for Android devices or the Apple Store for IPhone devices.
This app allows parents to track their students' bus in real time as well as allow us to send out push notifications for anything that happens with the bus (Bus running late due to mechanical issues, traffic, road construction, etc.). All you need to register for the app is a valid email address and your students 5 digit Student ID number. For users new to the app this year or returning from the 2021-2022 year you will need to go into the app and use the new ride registration function to make sure your student will be on the list for transportation.
It is REQUIRED that all students be registered on the parent portal app, in order to receive transportation. This process allows Transportation, through the parent portal registrations, a way to easily track how many students plan on using our buses. If you run into any complications in the registration process or do not have access to the internet or if you do not have a smart phone, please feel free to contact the Districts Route Coordinator, Christina Sills, in the Transportation department by Phone: 623-932-7023 or Email: csills@aguafria.org.
PLEASE REGISTER BY 08/03/2022*** EVEN IF YOU PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION PROCESS AGAIN SO WE HAVE A CLEAR PICTURE OF STUDENTS RETURNING ON THE BUSES. Push notifications to all registered riders will be sent out asd soon as routes are complete with route information.
***Follow this link which is also available to view on the parent hub via the District website: For first time users https://youtu.be/cZAph55ybok nad for users needing to use the ride registration feature https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNb-I477cek
Online Registration Process
RETURNING 10th, 11th and 12th graders - Parents will need to log in to ParentVUE to submit a Reaffirmation (Proof of Residency). *This is required each school year for all returning students.
NEW STUDENTS can register online. The registration process will prompt to create a ParentVUE.

Families have the opportunity to purchase a Device Protection Plan through the district. Details of the plan and how to purchase it are available online at www.aguafria.org/dpp.
