Updates to the Building
This summer Piper Middle School received a makeover:
- the lockers were removed to create more space for safe passage in the hallways.
- the walls were painted and the carpet was replaced.
- we are expanding to use five classrooms at the CTE building for our 8th grade STEM.
- the 8th grade Humanities team has moved to the area that was previously known as the 5th grade wing.
- the 6th grade Humanities and Math teachers have moved to the Ship. What is the Ship? It is the area previously known as the Villa.
Popcorn with the Pirates
We will host an evening to provide an overview of the vision for the Middle School ReDesign as well as provide the opportunity to meet your core teachers and elective teachers.
- Monday, August 22nd 5:30-6:30pm is 6th grade.
- Monday, August 22nd 6:30-7:30pm is 7th grade.
- Tuesday, August 23rd 5:30-6:30pm is 8th grade.
Communication Matrix
Piper School District provides the attached communication matrix to establish the protocol to address questions or concerns. Issues should be addressed beginning at level 1. If the issue cannot be resolved, it is appropriate to move to the next level with the inquiry.
Student Transportation
Student transportation for Piper USD 203 is provided by DS Bus Lines. If you have questions or would like more information, please call Kathy German or Linda Herbel at (913) 721-9019.

Food Services
Are school meals free of charge for ALL students during the 2022-2023 school year?
No, Congress did not extend school meal waivers and school meals will no longer be available to ALL students free of charge. Students that do not qualify for free meals will be charged for each meal they take at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
Wednesday, August 10, 2022
Time: 7:30am school begins; 10:30am school ends
Students should report to the gym at 7:30am. They will be introduced to staff and then will have the opportunity to meet with their teachers to review their schedule for the first full day of school. Staff, members of National Junior Honor Society, and our 8th grade cheerleaders will be there to help assist students as they transition to the classroom. We will end the morning with a Pep Assembly in the gym.
Thursday, August 11, 2022 - White Day
- 7:05am doors open to the Middle School
- 7:30am classes begin
- 2:40pm dismissal begins
Important: After reviewing state requirements for seat time, and based on the calendar for 22-23, it was determined the MS and HS did not need to make any alterations to their schedule in order to implement late start.
