Project 300

Project 300 starts November 8th --November 15th

Halloween Happenings- Cans for Costumes- Over the past several years, McCarthy school has invited students and staff to wear costumes on Halloween to promote school spirit and the understanding that a learning community should be enjoyable. We will continue this practice on Friday, October 29th!

A different twist started recently is that since Project 300 is so close to Halloween we thought this might be a great way tie the two together. We are suggesting that students who want to wear a costume donate a canned good. This is completely optional; however, it’s a nice opportunity for students to have a good time and to help others and to jump start Project 300 at the same time.

For those students who choose to participate, the following criteria should be followed for a costume:

  • It should be comfortable and safe to wear all day.
  • It is appropriate for a middle school (same standards as for daily wear- No underwear showing, nothing too short, too tight or too revealing).
  • It provides no distraction to the wearer or others in class. Must be easily set aside- nothing to be tripped over.
  • Absolutely no weapons in the costume including, but not limited to: guns, swords, blasters, chains and no masks- other than our everyday masks we've been wearing (Student’s face should be clearly visible.)
  • Additionally, candy is not to be brought to school on that day or the days after Halloween and distributed.

Halloween Reminder: All school rules will be strictly enforced on Halloween. Students are reminded that the day be fun for everyone ONLY if we remember SAFETY FIRST! Costumes… Yes! Candy… NO!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY

PICTURE DAY- RETAKES ON NOVEMBER 30

Picture Day was on October 12. All students that were in school had their pictures taken that day. Geskus Studios will be back on November 30 for retakes and for any student who was absent on the 12th. You can order on www.geskusprint.com.

Activities Running (all times 2:45-3:45 unless otherwise noted):

From McCarthy Drama

Drama club is getting started and this year we are presenting Moana Jr. This club is a bit different than other clubs in that you need to be a part of the cast, attend rehearsals two days a week for 2 hours and commit to all three performances.

We have multiple rehearsals each week that end at 4:45, we have lots of parent involvement and sometimes we can’t take everyone that auditions. Performance dates are February 4, 2022—7PM,and February 5, 2022—-2PM & 7 PM. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Additional rehearsal days will be added in January, and we will rehearse every day for the 2 weeks prior to performances. You-may not be required to come to every rehearsal, your role will determine which ones you need to attend. But you will need to be available on those days from 2:45-4:45. A calendar will be distributed on the first rehearsal, so everyone will know upfront which rehearsals they need to attend. Students will not be able to take the late bus home on rehearsal days-unless you-are specifically scheduled to do so, Please be sure that you can get transportation home at 4:45 PM prior to auditioning. The school production rely heavily on parent support. Parents are asked to volunteer in at least one area of need. A parent will be required-to attend an informational meeting on Thursday, October 21, at 6:45PM in Mrs. Richardson’s classroom. '

Those interested in stage crew, stay tuned!! Information for you will be coming out soon !
