Please read the following letter from our Executive Director for more information regarding this decision.
!! Lotus Parent University !!
Lotus School for Excellence’s Parent University program provides training, information, and resources to parents and caregivers that will aid parents in their essential responsibility for influencing children's lives. By partnering with internal LSE departments, academic institutions, community organizations, and other agencies to equip families with additional skills, knowledge, and resources, Parent University will support and empower parents to become leaders and advocates for their child's learning.
Classes offered through Parent University provide resources and training in areas such as safety, life skills, academic development, and financial literacy, and will provide families with tools that they can use to encourage their children to become successful while fostering school and community improvement.
Parent University is designed to:
Increase parental involvement and participation at Lotus,
Empower parents to become effective advocates for their children,
Strengthen home-school-community partnerships,
Allow parents an opportunity to network with professionals and other parents,
Help parents develop the skills needed to implement positive parenting practices, and
Equip parents with the knowledge and awareness of resources available to them.
PARENT UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES ON FEBRUARY 4th and 8th, 2021 with our 1st webinar:
“SOS - Signs of Suicide” - facilitated by Hope Walgamuth (LSE Elementary School Counselor) and Kristina Cohen (LSE Secondary School Counselor)

ACCESS TESTING
4th GRADE ACCESS Test: February 1 - February 4, 2021
What is the ACCESS Test?
The ACCESS Test is an English language proficiency computer-based test that measures students' academic English language skills. It is important that students do their best to use all of the skills they learn in the ELD classroom on each part of the test. The best way to prepare your child for the test is to make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats breakfast the day of the test.
What safety and health measures are in place?
As a school, we are taking every precaution to keep your child safe and healthy during the test. All students and staff will be required to have symptoms and temperatures checked, wear a mask, and use hand sanitizer before entering the school. Testing groups are limited to eight students to allow for adequate social distancing and only one elementary and one secondary grade level will be in the building on any day to minimize contact with others. Plexiglass barriers will also be used to separate students while testing.
