Dear neighbors and friends,
It's hard to believe that I have just started my ninth academic year as president of Hood College. Two weeks ago, we welcomed more than 400 new students to campus as members of the Class of 2027 and transfer students. It's great to have students back on campus!
The McCullagh Memorial Carillon, in the Coffman Chapel, made its debut at commencement in the spring. We are playing hourly chimes, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, on the hour. I hope you're enjoying them as much as I am.
If you've walked through campus recently, you will have no doubt noticed that Memorial Hall is still under construction. Supply chain issues have caused about a two-month delay in completing the project. Over the summer, anticipating this, we developed creative solutions to house the displaced Memorial students. We converted lounges into quads, turned some doubles into triples, and temporarily turned Admission House over to student housing. My husband Dave and I currently have three foreign language assistants bunking with us at East Cottage. Below are Marilyn from France, Elena and Paola from Spain, Dave, me and, of course, Koda.
I look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

Annual Hood College Neighbors' Breakfast with the President
Party in the Neighborhood
Saturday, October 7 | noon-3 p.m.
On June 30, 2023, we ended our five-year comprehensive campaign, Forging the Future, which exceeded its original ($50M) and secondary goals ($65M)! We finished the campaign at $74.6M, which will go to scholarships, high-impact practices like study abroad, the establishment of the George B. Delaplaine Jr. School of Business and the Ruth Whitaker Holmes School of Behavioral and Health Sciences, and the renovation of the Beneficial-Hodson Library and Learning Commons.
Please help us celebrate this tremendous success during Homecoming & Family Weekend. As part of the events for that weekend when we have families and alumni back on campus, we're inviting you, our neighbors, to be a part of the fun. There will be inflatables, games, crafts, a cook-out, giveaways and more.
I hope you'll bring your family over for the fun.
