Bike Donation
CommUNITY Church donated hundreds of bikes to students and with the help of Sterling Wood Church, the bikes were assembled and delivered to each of our elementary campuses!
The students were so excited to receive their new bikes and were all so excited to take their new bikes on a joy ride around the gym!
Thank you so much, CommUNITY Church and Sterling Wood Church!
Hope For The Holidays
Galena Park ISD would like to thank Gary Bledsoe, President of the Texas Chapter of NAACP; Dr. James Douglas, NAACP Houston Branch President; Yolanda Smith, Executive Director of the NAACP Houston Branch; Guy Rankin and Monty Lindsey, manager of Walmart on Wallisville for playing a critical role ensuring the safety and well-being of the GPISD community.
Their generous donation of $80,000 was used to purchase $200 Walmart gifts cards for 460 GPISD families whose homes and lives were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
How To Access Your Child's STAAR Scores
Did you know you can access your student's STAAR scores on the Texas Assessment Management Parent Portal?
Just go to their webpage, https://txparentportal.emetric.net
If you do not know your student's access code click on "Look Up Access Code" in blue beneath the login area. The PEIMS ID code is your student's state ID or Social Security Number without any dashes.
Internet Safety is taught to all students in Galena Park ISD in Kindergarten through 12th grade. All lessons are grade appropriate and address many different topics including keeping personal information private, cyberbullying, showing respect online, and speaking to an adult in the event that there is a problem while online. Please visit our Digital Citizenship page for more information: http://galenaparkisd.com/curriculum/technology/InternetSafetyPosterContest.htm
The theme for the 2017-18 Internet Safety Poster Contest is "Digital Stranger Danger." Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to participate. Projects will be due March 2, 2018. All details for the contest can be found in the General Participation Rules.

January Character Education - Perseverance
The mission of Galena Park ISD is to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.
We feel that by engaging our students in exciting lessons that explore and incorporate higher level thinking skills, we can assure success for all of our students.
Perseverance is the ability and self control that pushes you to work through challenges. Having perseverance means that when you are facing a challenge, you use your mind and your body to overcome it. Perseverance means you are able to wait and work through difficulties, whether they have to do with your mind, your body, or your emotions. Perseverance is the ability to do your best toward a goal, even though it’s a big challenge.
