CRHS Students of the Month
January 2023
Brooklin Collison is the Student of the Month for the Class of 2026! Brooklin was nominated throughout the month by Mrs. Cheezum and Mrs. France. Mrs. Cheezum reported that Brooklin “obtains her goals by working diligently every day. She treats others with respect by helping fellow students with classwork. Recently, Brooklin has gone above and beyond keeping up with all of her work during an extended absence.” Additionally, Mrs. France says: “Brooklin was willing and able to make up ALL of her state assessments this week! She worked hard and was very polite when we discussed a plan for her to finish. Way to go, Brooklin!” Her favorite class so far in high school has been math because it’s easy for her. Brooklin states: “My favorite teacher is Mrs.Dennis because she is really nice and I loved her class last semester and she is a great teacher.” Ms. Collison has a lot of plans for her future: “My future plans are I want to either be a detective or vet. The reason I want to be a detective is that I like mystery things and I like to help people. The reason I want to be a vet is that I love working with animals and I wanted to work with farm animals, but I'm leaning more toward being a detective.” When asked about Colonel TOUGH, Brooklin said that the T and the G are the most important. She elaborated: “T is treat others with respect I believe that is important because you never know what someone is going through. The G is going above and beyond, I believe that is important because you have to work hard to get want you want in life and you should try to work hard.” FUN FACT: Brooklin loves to read!
Jonah Desire is the Student of the Month for the Class of 2025! In January, Jonah was nominated by Mrs. Bennett, who states that “Jonah has worked incredibly hard this entire semester. This week, he went above and beyond by participating and doing an outstanding job on his last quiz! Keep up the great work in semester 2!” Jonah’s favorite subject in school is band because “I love listening to music, and when I hear the band play together it gives me joy.” For Jonah, being Colonel TOUGH means “to be respectful and helpful to those around you. The most important part for me treating others with respect, for that reason.” When asked about his future, Jonah’s response was simple: “Wing it!” FUN FACT: Jonah’s life can be boiled down to four words: Jesus, music, gaming, and anime!
Ryan Obitz is the Student-of-the-Month for the Class of 2024! Ryan was nominated twice in one week for going above and beyond and for having heart. Mrs. Price says: “Ryan continuously checked on his teachers and fellow classmates to make sure that they were ok. Ryan went above and beyond to support our school.” Mr. Sousa stated that “Ryan showed his TOUGHness throughout this week by checking on his peers and teachers to offer emotional support. He is a great example of how to stand out by being empathetic and understanding, and his work is greatly appreciated!” This semester, Ryan’s favorite class is Spanish 2 with Mrs. Anderson. He says it’s “an interesting class where we can share our thoughts, interact with each other and learn.” For Ryan, being Colonel TOUGH means being respectful, coming to school wanting to learn, and being a “caring, peaceful person.” After high school, Ryan hopes to join the Marine Corps and is currently preparing as a part of ROTC. FUN FACT: Ryan describes himself as accident-prone!
Kaydyn Cephas is the Student-of-the-Month for the Class of 2023! Kaydn was nominated this past month by Mrs. France. She noticed that “Kaydn went above and beyond to show a "new to CRHS" student where the media center was. Not only was this a kind gesture, but he was also modeling "The Colonel Way" for the student he helped.” In his time at CRHS, Kaydn has most enjoyed Mrs. Michaluk. He says that “she really pushed me to be my best at all times.” After high school, Kaydn wants to go to college and play football and study computer science or business management. For Kaydn, the most important part of being Colonel TOUGH is to have heart. He says: “Big James taught me I need to have heart in everything I do so that’s why I do now.” FUN FACT: When Kaydn’s ankles aren’t hurting, he can do flips!
