Work hard, read hard
South Elementary students have been creative, designing and illustrating their own bookmarks for a library contest. Students then voted on which bookmarks to print and use while reading a good book in the library. Congratulations to the following students: Avery Allen, 1st place; Irene Hang, 2nd place; and Ella Kozlov, 3rd place.
What is a trait?
Third-grade students at South Elementary learned how to predict traits that will be inherited by using Punnett squares in Mrs. Thomas' science class.
Building bridges
OJH freshman in Mrs. Little's physical science class constructed bridges this week. It was the culmination of weeks of research, design, making blueprints and even experimenting with a truss simulator. Once the model bridges are finished, students will predict where they think the weakest part is before testing and, yes, breaking them. The top five teams will compete in the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Model Bridge Contest at MSU later this month.
Learning life skills
Eighth graders in Mrs. Low’s FACS class at OJH finished up their aprons this week and then showed them off March 8 by wearing them at school all day. Great job!
