Halloween At Kingsley

District 58 has a rich and diverse population in our learning community. District 58 staff members recognize that many families have different beliefs; and because of religious, cultural, or personal reasons, some families may choose to not be involved in Halloween activities. If you would not like your child(ren) to participate in Halloween activities, please communicate this with your classroom teacher and Mr. Brewster. We will then find an alternative location and activity for your child during the Halloween activities.

If your child will participate in the activities, please carefully review the information in the fliers below. Thank you in advance.

Veteran's Day Info

All Kingsley students are encouraged to submit one photo of each Veteran they would like to celebrate this November. Photos should have the following information:

1) The Veteran's name

2) The student's name and classroom teacher

Please do not email photos. Photos will be on display during the month of November. We will also place mini American flags at the Kingsley School main entrance on Veteran's Day to recognize each Veteran submitted.

Students should submit pictures by Friday, November 4th. Photos will be returned. Thank you to all of the Veterans in our Kingsley Community for your service!

Parking During Arrival and Dismissal

We ask that all Kingsley families please be considerate of the neighbor's driveways. If you need to park your car, please do not block the driveways. Our neighbors need to be able to enter and exit their driveways as needed.

As a reminder, the parking lot is closed during arrival and dismissal. This allows district buses and vans to complete their routes. Also, for the safety of students, we do not want them walking through the parking lot with moving vehicles.

These procedures allow for the safety of our students and neighbors. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

A message from the district nurses

Fall is here and cold and flu season is upon us, and we are seeing students with cold and flu symptoms. To prevent the spread of these common viruses in the close confines of the classroom, we clean daily and encourage handwashing in the class. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines.

Consider keeping your child at home for an extra day of rest and observation if he or she has any of the following symptoms:

· Very stuffy or runny nose and/or a cough

· Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)

· Headache

Definitely keep your child at home and consider seeking medical attention if he or she has any of these symptoms:

· Fever (greater than 100 degrees by mouth. Your child may return to school only after his or her temperature has been consistently below 100 degrees, by mouth, for a minimum of 24 hours without medication)

· Vomiting (even once)

· Diarrhea

· Chills

· General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness, or muscle aches

· Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough

· Shortness of breath

· Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of the nose

To help prevent the flu and other colds, encourage good hygiene habits:

  • Wash hands frequently
  • Do not touch eyes, nose, or mouth
  • Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Lunch/Recess Sub Coverage

Kingsley Playground Committee

Kingsley Playground Update:

Kingsley Plays Together (Playground Committee) and PTA have joined forces.

This year's proceeds support our December 2022 goal of $320,000 for a new playground.

How else can I support the Kingsley Playground efforts?

Will your company consider a corporate match? Looking to volunteer your expertise? We welcome all types of support to raise awareness. Please reach out to Mr. Brewster, Mrs. Gajewski, or the Kingsley Plays Together committee.
