Friday Focus
Friday, May 2
2 Friday Focuses left after this one!
We will have all-school Mass today at 8:20. We will be doing the Crowning of Mary as a part of Mass today.
It is time to start putting students into classrooms for next year! Find a time to meet with your teaching partners and let's get this done! Please let me know the date/time of your meeting as I'd like to join you if I can.
We have the opportunity of hosting another Wayne State student teacher next fall. Her name is Natalie Pfeifer and she is a Humphrey St. Francis graduate. She'd like to be placed in grades Pre-School through 3. If you are interested in housing and mentoring Natalie, please contact me early next week!
I had a very good accreditation visit at Christ Lutheran this past Monday and Tuesday. I saw a few things I'd like to incorporate at Norfolk Catholic; I also saw a lot of things that made me realize how lucky and AWESOME we are here at NC! One thing I'd like to find are some large posters explaining our faith. CLS had big, colorful posters explaining Confession, the Altar, The Lord's Prayer and other things. Has anyone seen these anywhere?
We are also working very hard at making a Day Care Center a reality. Our "Pie in the Sky" plan is to build a two-story 50 X 70 foot addition just south of the school. It would be connected to our current building (think about walking right over Leisa Piper's desk into the Day Care.)
We need your help in making this a reality! Supporting the project in public would be a terrific first step. We want lots of positive word of mouth surrounding this project! We want to be a facility that brings Jesus to kids and kids to Jesus--we still want that, except now we want the kids to be even younger than Pre-school!
We hope and expect that the Day Care will bring more kids into our building, resulting in higher numbers in Pre-School, then Kindergarten, then into our older grades. Our K-12 enrollment next year will dip below 600 next year. We've GOT to reverse that trend; this is one way to do it!
A town-hall-type meeting is slated for Monday, May 12 at 6:30. This would be a wonderful opportunity to throw your support behind the project and to learn more about it.
Since I mentioned summer earlier, as you are making your plans, I urge you to consider attending the NNNC Summer Tech institute May 28-29 at Northeast Community College. Links for more information and to register are listed below!
The Power of Being Thoughtful and Kind
(and no, I didn't know what obsequiousness meant, either!)
Another example of people being thoughtful and kind
Do you remember that "lone-nut" video I showed you, where the one crazy guy dancing was joined by another, and then two more, and then 5 more, and then pretty soon the entire crowd was dancing? Here's another example! Are you/Can you be the math teacher in this video?
