I emailed the report to all teachers indicating the numbers of minutes per class.
Contact me if these appear inaccurate or if they are accurate, but you are struggling to meet your minutes.
If you are not close to meeting your minutes and I don't hear from you, I will be contacting you individually to follow up.
Teachers Weekly Schedules are Due in the Google Schedule Folder by 10/14
Teachers-
Your weekly schedules are due to our Google Folder by 10/14. By having this schedule, I am able to schedule walk throughs and arrange for others to observe your practice. And it's also a good idea for you in order to make sure you are meeting all of your content areas.
Here's last year's schedules...you can save a copy and remake your schedule and this will save you time.
If you need help with this, please talk to your ILT lead, Mr. Miller (tech issue?) or Ms. Morgan (not sure how to fit all your content in?)
Hearts (Social Emotional Learning)
Our SEL PD Cycle is Over, But Help is Still available!
From Kathy Bennett (Our Trauma Informed practice trainer)- an email offering you help with your classroom if needed!
Trauma Informed Teacher/Staff Coaching:
- Observation of classroom to gauge needs for trauma informed coaching.
- Self-assessment of trauma informed skills and areas for improvement.
- Coaching provided such as de-escalation, setting up and using peace corners, relationship building, using tools like grounding and regulation for whole class.
- In-class presentation to model yoga, mindfulness, emotional regulation where teachers can observe then implement.
- Self-Care conversation and coaching for teachers.
Good teachers candidates should be open to being observed in a very compassionate and non-judgmental way and offered support and tools that will benefit all students. (And teachers too!)
I should be ready to book classrooms by early November. Feel free to let your teachers know, and forward to all appropriate support staff. I look forward to providing additional supports!
Have a great weekend!
Kathy Bennett

IMPORTANT- All teachers are required to have Emergency Sub Plans
2) All sub plans should include info. on emergencies- where is the yellow box in your room? Where is the emergency folder with student info?
3) You should have an emergency sub. plans folder in your room that lists your weekly schedule and has some activities and information.
Having a substitute impacts your students and your colleagues...emergencies happen, please make sure you have emergency sub plans in place so your colleagues don't have to jump in and create them and your students aren't left without work to do!

Coach C's Corner
OUSD's vision is that, "All OUSD students will find joy in their academic experience while graduating with the skills to ensure they are caring, competent, fully-informed, critical thinkers who are prepared for college, career, and community success." OUSD is an educational system that considers the entire human-being. Academics is one part of a larger picture of success.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, one definition of "educate" is to, "Give intellectual, moral, and social instruction to (someone), typically at a school or university." While OUSD teaches math, reading, and writing, as an educational system, we are also building "soft skills" or rather social-emotional skills that are crucial for a student's success in the workforce and in the community as a whole.
One way OUSD strives to educate the whole individual is through Social Emotional Learning (SEL). On the surface, SEL may appear as a program that teaches kids how to get along and be nice. In truth, it goes much deeper because it supports a student's ability to learn and retain the academics taught in school.
To learn more about the connection between SEL and academics as part of a student's entire education, please check out the following article:
