Vipers Love PBIS Rewards
The PBIS Viper Store is up and running. Students are earning points in the areas of safety, respect, responsibility, showing kindness and promoting a growth mindset. In the first quarter teachers awarded 22,739 points, which amounted to over 400 prizes to students exhibiting positive behavior on campus. Students love to browse the online store then arrive with a smile to pick up their rewards in person. A huge Thank you to Sean Hall and Lori Pierce for stepping up to help in the student store. We will be needing more parent volunteers to keep it up and running, so if you are volunteer trained and have an hour or more to dedicate to helping out, please send me an email at shari.labuwi@dvusd.org
We looking to continually stock our PBIS Store and would love more student prizes. Students love items such as Pokémon cards, sports trading. cards, Lego sets, colorful pencils, specialty markers, bracelets, and small denominations of gift cards (Nintendo/Playstation/XBox/Apple/STEAM/Starbucks/McDonalds/ChickFilA, etc). If your child would love it, then we'd love to offer it in our school store. Donations of all kinds are currently being accepted. We would welcome any gently used items that would be school age appropriate for K-8th grade in addition to gift cards. Thank you in advance for helping us make the most out of the PBIS Rewards program. If you have any of these items you can drop them off at the office anytime.
See Something? Say Something! Keep our Campus Orderly
Any students who engage in any destructive or devious behavior at SV will be subject to a minimum of a 3-day off-campus suspension. Right now all students are being punished with restricted bathroom access in our 6-8 pod, and we hope this creates a situation where those with knowledge of the few doing the vandalism will speak up and allow us to get back the pride we have in our campus and community.
If any of our students are experiencing bullying, harassment, or having a peer conflict, please advise them to tell a trusted adult on campus so we can intervene accordingly. We always have incident report forms available in our office where students can submit a report for administration to investigate. Students need to report any of these incidents directly to school staff so we can intervene swiftly. If a student needs to contact a parent to report anything, they are always able to come to the office and call home, but they should not be texting or messaging parents from school. The sooner school staff know about an issue, the quicker we can respond and intervene.
Spirit Line Informational Meeting Tuesday
There will be an informational meeting for students only (not parents) to discuss try-outs and answer questions you may have on Tuesday, October 26 right after school at the patio area outside of Mrs. Hoffpauir’s office (by the STEM room). - Open enrollment applications for 22-23 are filling up fast. For those of you with siblings or friends wishing to attend SV next year, please fill out your application for Sierra Verde online at our district open enrollment page. If you are calling into the attendance line and your student is not sick, please be sure you specify that they are well and/or taking a personal day.
