The Muraski Tribune
Your weekly update on the happening of Muraski Elementary!
Message from the Principal: PBIS UPDATE
Good Afternoon Muraski Families,
We've had a wonderful two weeks back and are working hard to get on track with PRIDE within our school. As many of you know, we have been working towards teaching students how to be Model Mustangs at Muraski. Part of this involves PBIS, which is Positive Behavior Intervention and Support.
With PBIS implementation, we are working on communicating expectations in a variety of areas to help create a positive environment for learning at Muraski.
This week our focus was the cafeteria. We have developed the acronym LUNCH.
We want students to:
L- Listen to the adults the first time.
U- Use your manners.
N- Nice is best.
C- Clean up after yourself.
H- Have fun.
In order to assist in our implementation, we would love you to have conversations with your child about these expectations and how they can be Model Mustangs at our school. As I've always said, it takes a village. If we can work together, we can create an incredible place for our students every day.
Sincerely,
Mike Griffen
K-2 PARENTS: WANT TO HELP YOUR CHILD BE A BETTER READER?
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or myself for more detailed information.

Everyday we are also becoming better writers. Whether it is when we work on our letter formation, spelling of sight words, or sentence formation. We are building our writing muscles. :)
Lastly, we are continuing to practice and work on our teen numbers. Those can be quite tricky. Help your child by practicing these at home, and continuing to work on counting to 100.
First Grade Update
Second Grade Update
We had another busy week in second grade! The students are working hard on learning new strategies for subtracting double digit numbers with and without regrouping. We continue to be impressed by the resilience shown by our growing mathematicians when they are learning new things that can feel confusing at first. They are learning to keep practicing and growing as a student so they can discover the best strategy that works most effectively for them! Our readers completed their independent portion of their winter benchmarking assessments later in the week and will complete the final oral reading fluency component (1:1 with their teacher) at the end of this month. They will complete their independent math benchmarking next week on their Chromebooks. We also continue to make great strides in our informational writing unit and scientific discoveries! We are also working hard to promote kindness and positive behavior in each of ourselves as we work steadily to improve our learning communities. We hope you all enjoy the long weekend ahead!
Third Grade Update
Fourth Grade Update
This week in Math we are finishing up our chapter on adding and subtracting fractions. The students are getting a great grasp at understanding fractions better.
