Planning For A Strong Finish
With the holidays on our minds, finishing the semester strong is more important than ever. We made it through the excitement of a new school year, maintained our #excellence by making school history and gave thanks to all those who make our campus the amazing place it is. Although we have little time left in 2019, let's continue striving towards our #trueNorth. With so many opportunities to leave a positive mark on the first half of this year, let's take advantage.
Let's finish strong.

A Word From Principal Jung
Falcon Nation,
I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday!
Our short, three weeks in December are jam-packed. These three weeks are crucial to ensuring students earn credit for each of their courses. Students may lose credit due to a failing average of Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 grades or due to not meeting the requirements of compulsory attendance law (Students lose credit after dropping below 90% attendance for each class within a semester). It is important that students attend tutorials and check their attendance regularly via Skyward. Students are encouraged to check with their counselor/administrator to ensure they are on track to earn credit for each course at the end of the semester.
Our STAAR retesting schedule is provided below. STAAR retesting will be the week of December 9th. All non-retesters will follow their normal schedule.
Let’s finish out this semester strong!
Michael Jung
Proud Principal of NFHS

#trueNorth Pillars In Action
#excellence
Before Thanksgiving, students from Mrs. Hough's PreAp English 2 classes and Ms. Ross' graphic design classes partnered with a local nonprofit, Protecting Your Destiny, to donate items and write notes of encouragement to teens who are less fortunate in Kaufman and Dallas County. The students met with the nonprofit representatives to share the donations and notes themselves.
#empower
When Ms. Lamb's practicum class visited with elementary classes in November, the younger students loved learning from our Falcons. A NFHS practicum student, Miss Landry, made quite the impression after teaching a vocabulary lesson to some elementary students.
#educate
Mrs. Sharp's Health Science classes created mini hospitals to better experience how they function. After learning about the ins-and-outs of hospitals, each student created a hospital room with used boxes and household products. To finalize the project, students collaborated to connect all of the rooms together.

NFHS Top Moments of the Month
Post With The Highest Engagement
A post showing our support and love for Community ISD gained heavy traffic and high engagement on Facebook. By wearing blue, our students and staff joined schools around the state to prove that we all are #BraveStrong.
Post With The Furthest Reach
The Facebook post earning the furthest reach is one celebrating the Lady Falcon Volleyball team as they headed to their first playoff game. Students and staff joined in the front of the school to send off the players in fashion.
Top Tweet of November
When Ms. Burrow's English classes took part in a book tasting, Twitter was interested! The top Tweet of the month highlights an engaging activity that allowed students to sample different book genres. Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Soto helped coordinate and lead the event in the library.
