Michael Jordan's Conflict

The conflict Michael faced was character vs. self. It was all in the way he thought about not making varsity and instead making JV. He turned it into a negative and made himself at fault for not being tall enough or skilled enough. As a sophomore in high school Michael was hoping to be one of the few sophomores who made varsity. He tried out with his best friend Leroy Smith who was 6'7 whereas Michael was 5'10. Unfortunately for Michael, the team was lacking height and Michael did not meet the requirements. What made it even worse was that Leroy Smith did make varsity and that made Michael more angry and depressed. He did in fact go home and cry in his room, but his name was on the second list for JV which made him feel even worse.

Michael Jordan Overcoming Obstacles

Once on junior varsity Michael became a superstar. He was the best player the Junior varsity had ever seen. Michael prayed to get taller because that was the one thing he could not do himself. His father told him the tallness was within him and it surprisingly was. The next year Michael had grown five inches and made varsity. This was also partly because he had been a junior varsity legend. He had finally overcome the failure of being cut from varsity the previous year.

Michael Jordan's Life Lesson

No matter what happens never give up on what you love. Michael Jordan could have given up once cut from varsity. But since he loved basketball he kept at it and tried to get better. If he would have given up he may have never achieved greatness by becoming an NBA legend. So no matter what happens never give up on what you love whether it is cooking, music, or sports because you could miss out on a chance to achieve greatness.
