Cougar "Prints"
Week of November 19
Thankful for Each of You!
Professionally, I get to work alongside each of you. If you are reading this, this means you. You all make Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School the place it is and the place to be. I work alongside compassionate, dedicated professionals who want the very best each day for our students. As I continue to grow in my position, I am surrounded by professionals who have patience with me, are able to laugh alongside, and challenge me to be my best. I thrive in a work environment that is predicated on working hard to grow students, support one another, and have a little fun while doing those things.
Please take even just a minute to step back and reflect on what you may be thankful for. This Thanksgiving, I will be thinking of you wishing you a happy and healthy break surrounding by family and friends.
District Budget Requests
We submitted various things but focused on items such as new whiteboards, facility updates including a new parking lot, and increasing supplements to retain and recruit highly qualified staff. We also focused on reducing class size and getting additional mental health support positions at each school. If you would like to know about this, just let me know.
ED CENTER WINTER BREAK OFFICE COVERAGE DATES & Courier Dates
Ed Center front desk coverage: There will be NO RECEPTION COVERAGE on December 22 through January 1, 2019, as we will not be open to the public. Our normal schedule will resume January 2, 2019
We will not have courier service on December 24-31 or January 1, 2019.
Update from District Level Safety Audit
1. Only one classroom door was left unlocked on the entire campus.
2. Mainly, the common areas had doors unlocked - remember, all doors must be locked at all times - no exception. We are removing the door to the kitchenette in the K-2 building - this is always open anyway and we have unplugged the stove, which can be still used when needed. Additionally, we are placing work orders for more keys to be delivered for Conference Room access - this door must always remain locked.
3. The Makerspace must always remain locked but was left open and unlocked. Students should not be sent to this location to retrieve anything. If you access this room, you must lock it behind you.
Intervention Central - Great Resources!!!
STAFF SHOUT-OUTS!
Shout-out to our Teacher Assistants. Each of you has subbed the last couple of weeks and I wanted to take a moment to say thanks again. We are fortunate to have such talented people in these positions that can support academic development when teachers are out of their classrooms.
Shout-out to our Cafeteria Staff. Our average breakfast participation has jumped about 25% in the last week of new data. It's a small, but a mightly uptick in our breakfast participation.
