GMS Principal's Corner

January 23, 2022

Dear Galvin Families,

It was a pleasure to attend our Grade 6 Winter Concert this past Tuesday evening. Each year our students amaze us with their multitude of talents. The Galvin offers students various enrichment opportunities throughout the school year. Our GMS Math team (see below) continues to excel at each meet. Other enrichment opportunities include our literary magazine - Fresh Ink, asking students to submit artwork, prose, photography and poems. In addition, we offer a Girls Who Code Club and two Robotics Teams. Also, our winter clubs started last week, offering students over 16 different choices such as Mural Club, Creative Writing Club, Great Galvin Baking Club, and Art Workshop Club to just name a few. We encourage students to get engaged and take advantage of these enrichment opportunities.

Thank you,

GMS Administration

Chromebooks: Important Reminder

It is our students' responsibility to bring their charged Chromebook to school with them each day. We have a very limited number of loaners available and are using those to first support students who's Chromebooks aren't working. The Chromebook is an essential, daily, school supply. Please help your child come up with a process that allows them to have their device ready for school each day. Thank you.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

On Thursday, January 13th, students collaborated on our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day activity during X-Block. Every year the Galvin faculty and students recognize the work and achievements of Dr. King.

6th Grade Concert

On Tuesday evening January 18th the 6th Grade Band, Orchestra and Chorus presented a Winter Concert! The concert was held at Canton High School and included a large and appreciative audience. The Orchestra performed Jingle Bells and Beethoven's Ode to Joy! They concluded with a neat piece called Ninja! The Chorus sang three selections in unison, two parts and even three parts with great enthusiasm. The Band concluded the evening encouraging the audience to Let's Go Band!
