October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Click here for more information. About 30% of all newly diagnosed cancers in women each year are breast cancer. When a friend, coworker, or family member is diagnosed with cancer, we seek ways to help. Donating blood through Bloodworks Northwest is an immediate and essential way to help cancer patients receive care at hospitals and cancer centers across the Pacific Northwest. About 25% of the blood supply is used by patients battling cancer. Please consider booking an appointment today.
Bullying Prevention Month
October’s National Bullying Prevention Month reminds us that students, parents, teachers, and school administrators all play a role. Positive change comes as we begin to emphasize respect and inclusion on campuses across the country. Disability History & Awareness Month
Disability History and Awareness Month (RCW 28A. 230.158) takes place during the month of October to increase awareness, respect, and acceptance for people with disabilities, and to bring a greater sense of pride to people with disabilities. Click here for more information and resources.

Counselors Corner
Counselor Section:
We took 18 students to Operation School Bell last week. We are surrounding these 18 students with continual supports (weekly food, photo packages, clothes, book fair coupon, holiday food basket, holiday toys, shoes…) If you have a family that could benefit from these supports please let them know we are the ones to connect with.😊

Coaches Corner
Engagement is KEY. When students are engaged in learning they are more likely to be motivated and to persevere. This is especially important for our learners of greatest need. Check out this Student Engagement Recipe Card from iReady: it suggests engagement strategies for daily, weekly or monthly motivators. My favorite is the punch card! Do you have a special way to engage your students with iReady (behaviorally, emotionally or cognitively) ? Email Sharon with your strategy by Oct 26 to be put into a drawing for a $5 coffee card.
Imagine Language and Literacy will be holding an online training for staff on Thursday, October 26. Participants will learn how to navigate the teacher dashboard, locate student usage, and progress data; and identify strengths and skills to address during classroom instruction. This session is available for registration through Frontline. You can also click HERE to register after you are signed in.
