The Daily Potato (World War One)

Weapons and Technology
World War One brought many new technologys. Poison gas was one of those advancements. Gases could be very dangerous, but did not have a major effect. Another advancment from WW1 were the mobile x-ray machines. Many soilders were badly wounded in war, so the x-ray machine showed the problem. Some other advancements were tanks, flamethrowers, tracer bullets, and aircraft carriers.
The Homefront
On the homefront (US territory), life was tough. Everybody was rationing, so supplies were low. Surgar, meats, flour, butter, and milk were being rationed. To support the war, people bought liberty bonds. Liberty bonds were a system where you buy a bond for $50 to millions of dollars. The money supported the war, and later on you could redeem it for more money. This helped the war tremendously.
America's Role
On April 6, 1917, America entered World War One. Four million U.S men participated in the war. American troops (also known as Doughboys) were very skilled, and turned the tide of the war. We also sent goods to Allied Powers. America had a big role in the war. 53,000 US soldiers died in combat in WW1.
End Of War
The Allied Powers won the war. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day on the eleventh month, both sides signed a armstice. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, and offically ended the war. Along with the end of the war, the League of Nations was created.
