Reed Portrait Group will be taking pictures of any of our new students who have yet to have their school picture taken this year. This is the last chance for students to be featured in the 2015-2016 yearbook. Pictures will take place at 9:15am right after the morning announcements. If this applies to your student, please make sure to have them at school on time on Wednesday. Thanks

Skate Night is this Thursday, February 4th from 6:00-8:00pm at the Northland Rolladium! School Skate Night parties are a fun and easy way to help raise money for Schumacher. Bring your students and any other family or friends who want to have a blast at each month's themed skate party. (The more paid skaters, the more money raised for Schumacher.)

The class with the most attendance will be awarded the "Golden Skate Award" trophy to keep in their classroom that month along with a free pass for each student in the class to use at a future public session! This month's theme is "Spread the Love". Wear red or pink in honor of Valentine's Day.

Skate parties are private events for students and their families and friends. We are not open to the general public during skate parties. You are always welcome to stay and even skate with your child. If you are comfortable leaving your child, simply sign them in with a contact phone number with our experienced rink management and staff.

Girls on the Run is coming to Schumacher this spring!

Grab your running shoes and water bottles and join the Girls on the Run fun! This 10 week session for girls in 3rd through 5th grade educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Using a well-researched curriculum, life lessons are taught through the use of fun interactive games combined with training for a non-competitive 5k race. Topics include: getting rid of negative self-talk, how to deal with bullying, gossip and peer pressure, nutrition, making healthy choices, and much more. Practices will meet Mondays and Thursdays starting this spring. All girls will run/walk in the season ending 5k event on Saturday, May 21st at Arrowhead Stadium.

Registration opens online on January 30th. Spots are limited! Visit www.gotrkc.org or ask Coach and 5th grade teacher Cindy Espy to learn more.

Girls on the Run: Joyful, Healthy, Confident!

Do you have a heart for helping people? If so, we'd love to have you join our PTA Family Needs Committee. The purpose of this committee is to ensure that the needs of all students are met, despite any financial hardships their families may be facing. In order to address these needs, we currently have a list of families who are "on call" to donate or help with student or family needs that arise throughout the school year. We are looking to grow our committee and would love to have you join! You will not have to physically sit on a committee; all communication is through email. Examples of possible anticipated needs include: donations of extra classroom snacks, Valentine's Day cards, clothing, shoes, and hygiene items. If you are interested in being a part of this committee, please email Hadley Pyle at hadleypyle@hotmail.com. We are excited to help provide the benefits and opportunities that we believe ALL Sharks should be afforded.
