From the Desk of Mrs. Adelman
Hello Warwick Bears!!
We have recently seen an increase in student personal electronic communication devices at Warwick, including student electronic watches. I understand that many watches are used by parents and students after school and for added safety measures. I am reaching out to ask parents to not use watches as a communication avenue during the school day. If you would like to alert your child to a dismissal change and/or other notification, please reach out to the classroom teacher and/or the main office. We will make sure that your child receives the update. Our goal in the classroom is for your child to learn and be engaged in the learning activities. My number one goal is to keep our students and staff safe. We do not want to miss any communications that you would like your child to know to ensure that they are getting to and from school in the safest way. We have also found that sometimes a student will reach out to mom or dad because they aren't feeling well. As a school team, we would like to encourage your children to go to the nurse if they aren't feeling well at school. This will help to ensure that we are all on the same page.
My request is based in school board policy (Policy 829). According to Policy 829, student use of Personal Electronic Communication Devices in the classroom is at the sole discretion of the classroom teacher and may be prohibited by the teacher/building administrator. Building administrators and classroom teachers may prohibit the use of personal Electronic Communication Devices in classrooms and common areas of the school if they are determined to be disruptive to the educational process.
I do not want to prohibit student devices but would ask that you would help us to not communicate through phones/smart devices during school hours. You may not be aware that "schooltime" is a feature on Apple watches that would disable to use of calling/texting during school hours.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your constant support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Amy Adelman

Check Writing Campaign - PTO Fundraiser
We are overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of resolve, resilience, and support for our children at Warwick Elementary while we have all been faced with radically altered lives over the past two years.
We are grateful for all the ways parents have stepped up to provide meaningful programs, teacher support, and community building. Now we are asking for your financial support, too. The primary PTO fundraiser this year is our Check Writing Campaign. The Warwick PTO, teachers, and our young students need your support more than ever because the needs today are perhaps greater than they were during “normal” times. We are committed to supporting Warwick teachers and staff to help them provide optimal experiences for our children in the classroom.
We have not actively fundraised since November 2019 and we have stretched our budget as far as we can to while avoiding individual fundraisers (any type of THON, selling candles, selling wrapping paper, selling cookies, etc.).Traditionally, we only fundraise every two years and we would like to keep that going! The Warwick PTO provides assemblies, author visits, class trips, teacher allocations, field day support, KISS Events (Kids Invite Someone Special), school improvement projects, hospitality for teacher luncheons, etc.
Your support enables us to continue to fund these important projects and add new ones every year!

Halloween at Warwick
We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween on Monday, October 31st at Warwick. Homeroom parents will work with the respective classroom teachers and will be reaching out to organize parties, food donations, etc.
Our Halloween Parade will be promptly at 9:30am. The Halloween Parade is weather dependent. If inclement weather occurs on the morning of the 31st, we will hold a parade inside for students and staff.
We ask that visitors please park at Saint Cyrils (located across the street from Warwick) for the parade. The students will parade through the main parking lot.
Just a friendly reminder that all Halloween costumes should be school appropriate (any costume weapons and/or scary makeup should be reserved for Halloween night at home). If you have any questions at costumes, please ask.
Veterans Day 2022
November 11, 2022 will be Red, White, and Blue Day in honor of our nation's veterans!
An email blast was sent to all families from Warwick this week to share information about our Veterans Day Celebration to be held on November 11th.
If you would like us to celebrate a veteran who is special to you, please complete the following form: Click here!
Students have also been invited to participate in a writing activity to share a poem or short essay capturing why it is important to thank our veterans. Artistic students may consider submitting a drawing or artwork that goes along with our theme as well!
Form entries should be submitted by November 2, 2022 to be included in our Veterans Day Tribute.
Thank you!
All questions about Veteran's Day can be directed to Mrs. Sleicher at ksleicher@cbsd.org
