Field Day
The information below is going home to parents tomorrow in the Parent Link about Field Day-feel free to copy and use as you need.
Parents, Friday May 3rd is Field Day! Students will be getting wet, so please send your child to school with an extra set of dry clothes, this includes shoes and socks. They can wear water shoes if they want to during Field Day. Since they will be getting wet at field day, your child may want to change into dry clothes for the remainder of the day. Students can wear swimsuits, but they have to wear school appropriate clothing on top of swimsuit. Boys and girls can also wear swim trunks and swim shirt if they are school appropriate. They will have an opportunity to change into dry clothes after Field Day. They will need a dry, clean pair of socks to wear for inflatables so please include that as well. We are in need of volunteers, see Akin PTA Website below. Feel free to email Coach Steve with any questions you may have @ stephen.lunceford@leanderisd.org

Continuous Improvement Conference-Call for Proposals
Leander ISD is built upon a foundation of support, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices.
One of the ways that we exemplify this is through LISD’s annual Continuous Improvement Conference, slated for October 14 & 15, 2019. To ensure that the conference continues to be a place for us to share, explore, and learn from one another, we need your contribution!
Please consider submitting a session proposal by completing this Google Form:
2019 Conference - Call for Proposals by May 31st.
All sessions should align to one (or more) of the following strands:
- High-Quality Teaching & Learning
- PLCs
- Leadership Development
- Culture & Vision
- Health, Wellness, & Safety
- Support Staff & Systems
The session proposal planning guide will help you think through some key decisions prior to completing the proposal form. Additionally, you can access some example titles, descriptions, and tips for writing your proposal.
Thank you in advance for being a part of the 2019 Continuous Improvement Conference. Your willingness to share is the heart of the conference and the embodiment of continuous improvement!
Weather Season
As we review safety procedures in the front office (Shelter in place, Tornado, etc.) we want to make sure everyone belongs to our Akin Group Me. This group text is for communicating with Akin faculty and staff in the case of emergencies, only. Please make sure you add Group Me when you download the app to your phone today if you have not done it.
You're invited to my new group 'Akin Elementary Emergency Use Only' on GroupMe. Click here to join: https://groupme.com/join_group/43320037/0USj1t
We will do some "test" communication soon.
Kinder Camp is coming, too!
It’s time to start planning for Kinder Camp again! Kinder Camp will be on Monday, August 5th from 5:30-7:00pm at Akin.
We are in need of volunteers to assist with welcoming our newest Aviators! Volunteering will be very simple, all we need is your smile!
If you are able to volunteer for Kinder Camp, please click here to sign up. If you volunteer, please plan to arrive at 5:00, so we can go over everything with you! Thank you so much-Kinder Team!
