BME Staff Update
February 24, 2019
Team Meadow -
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Welcome Kelly Mattingly to Team Meadow - Kelly's first official day at Boone Meadow begins this week. I've included a little intro/bio below. Welcome, Kelly! We are excited to have you join our team.
Congratulations ZEF Grant winners! -
- Sarah Kiel and Amanda Rennard are heading to Florence, Italy in June! They received a grant to attend the Europass Teacher Academy “Student-Centered Classroom: Teachers as Promoters of Active Learning!” We look forward to hearing more about this upcoming learning adventure in Tuscany! Congrats Sarah and Amanda!
- Lauren Kersey wrote a grant for BME team members to attend the ASCD conference in Chicago on the weekend of March 16th & 17th. We are assembling a team to make the venture to the Windy City! Thanks, Lauren.
Staff meeting today - We will meet in the family shortly after dismissal. We have a heavy agenda, so please be sure to be on time. Agenda includes topics of diversity and learning walks.
Family Gathering - On Monday afternoon, we will gather in the gymnasium for our 3rd Family Gathering. We will be wrapping up Unit 3 (Emotional Control). Lindsey Trostle will be leading us through some yoga, student leaders will share about Pennies for Patients, and Officer Bob has arranged for a visit from the Boone County Sheriff Department's bloodhounds. We will begin around 1:35. We will call for classes when we are ready to welcome everyone in the gym.
Boone Meadow Blast is this Saturday. If you are willing to volunteer for a few minutes of time, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. See the Friday Flyer with more details.
On another note, Lauren will be out all day on Monday for School Safety Specialist training, and I will be out all day Tuesday.
I'll catch you up on a few more items when we meet live for our staff meeting.
Here's to a great week!
Tom
Welcome, Kelly Mattingly to Team Meadow
We are thrilled to have Kelly join our team.
Ms. Mattingly garnered respect from her colleagues during her combined experiences while working in the Intensive Intervention program at Zionsville West, and as a lead preschool teacher for Zionsville’s Universal Preschool program at Pleasant View Elementary. Unanimously, her colleagues agree that “Kelly has a natural ability to understand her students while establishing positive relationships and rapport with each of her students and their families.” Throughout the interviews, it became increasingly apparent that Kelly’s hard work, positive outlook, and eagerness to support students in a relational manner distinguishes her as a fine educator. Kelly demonstrates an eagerness to learn and reflect on her work so she can best reach her students.
My name is Kelly Mattingly, and I am honored to be a part of Boone Meadow. I am so excited to meet you and begin getting to know you in the upcoming weeks!
I grew up in Zionsville and attended Pleasant View Elementary. It is a dream come true to be able to teach in the very district that created such a strong educational foundation for me and fostered a love for learning. After graduating from Zionsville Community High School, I went to Purdue University to study Elementary Education. Once I completed my student teaching, my family and I moved back home to Zionsville. In May of 2017, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Olivia, into our family.
As Mr. Hundley mentioned in his previous message to you, I have been working with students across Zionsville schools over the past two years. I started my career journey in the Intensive Interventions classroom at Zionsville West Middle School before teaching Pre-K at Pleasant View Elementary. Throughout my time teaching, it has been important to me to create positive relationships within the classroom. I believe students are most successful in the classroom when there are strong partnerships between the families and the school. It is my goal to make this transition period as smooth as possible by maintaining the routines and procedures put in place by Mrs. Watts. Since accepting the position, she and I have been in constant communication as consistency and continuity for students and families is our number one goal!

Boone Meadow Mixer - Staff Donations
February 12, 2019
Dear Boone Meadow Teachers and Staff,
It’s time again for our annual Boone Meadow Mixer! We are always so grateful for the donations of time and experiences that you provide for our auction, as these are often the most “valuable” items we have for sale! This year, we would again, ask for your generous donations for our Silent Auction event on March 22nd.
In the past staff/teacher donations have varied from “experiences” to “classroom treasures”. Both are great and both are acceptable! We would like to avoid activities that involve the whole class (other than “teacher for the day”) as we would like to keep to a special experience for the individual children. We are asking you to please consider donating (1-2) items to this year’s Silent Auction. We will again be hosting our silent auction on an online bidding tool in order to allow families to still participate even if they may not be able to attend the event.
We appreciate what you do for our children every single day, and we thank you sincerely for your willingness to provide these experiences that our kids will remember forever. Your time is the most valuable thing you could possibly provide to our students.
Once you have decided if you would like to donate something. Please use the enclosed link to submit your donations electronically. If you prefer manually drop off your form in the PTO mailbox, feel free to use the page attached. Please offer as many details as possible. We will print an auction certificate to give to the winning bidder for any “experience” items. Please complete and submit all forms no later than March 4, 2019.
We thank you again for your generosity, and we would LOVE to see you all at the Cardinal Room at the Golf Club of Indiana on March 22nd at 6:30! (Please remember that each staff member will receive one free ticket to the event). If you have any questions or want to purchase additional tickets, please reach out to us at boonemeadowpto@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
BME PTO
