How does the scam work?

a thief steals your personal information, such as your full name or social security number, to commit fraud. The identity thief can use your information to fraudulently apply for credit, file taxes, or get medical services

Who does the Scam target?

Anyone that they can get enough information from to accomplish the scam.

Who will be hurt?

The people that the thief is taking the information from and spending all their money.

What is the economic impact?

The victim will get their date of birth, social security number, bank account numbers and full name. Then they will use that information to open up new bank accounts and spend lots of money.

What makes it believable?

They catch people's attention by making websites and flyers making it seem very real

Do you think the average person would fall for this scam?

Yes because anyone can be targeted and the person may not even know the thief got a hold of all their information until a bunch of money starts being deposited and a new bank account is opened

What does this scam rely on to be successful?

It relies on the thief's being sneaky and seeming nice at first but then it also relies on people being vulnerable and clueless this is all happening.

What emotion does the scam depend on?

Vulnerability victims and desperate, mean and sneaky thieves.
