NJ Schools Performance Report
Dear Parents, Guardians and Members of the School Community,
We are writing to provide you information about the 2019-2020 New Jersey School Performance Reports, which were recently released and are available on the NJ School Performance Reports webpage at www.njschooldata.org.
The School Performance Reports reflect the New Jersey Department of Education’s (NJDOE) commitment to providing parents, students and school communities with a large variety of information about each school and district. These reports can be used as a tool to help evaluate whether all students have equitable access to high quality education. We encourage you to use these reports to:
Learn more about your school and district
Start conversations with school community members and ask questions
Engage with school communities to identify what schools are doing well and where they can improve
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the way the NJDOE was able to measure school performance and student achievement in the 2019-2020 School Performance Reports. Some data is not available at all and other data, while available, may not look the same as it did in prior years. The NJDOE also recognizes that our existing data can’t begin to measure the hard work and perseverance of the students, families, educators, and community members during this difficult year.
While this past year has been unlike any other, and the NJDOE believes that it is critical to use the available data in the reports, along with other information collected directly within districts and communities, to start conversations, identify gaps in information, and continue to find ways to address the impacts of COVID-19 and ensure all students receive the support and resources that they need. Also, the School Performance Reports can and should be used in conjunction with available school and district data to identify priorities for summer and school year programming and the use of state and federal dollars.
Notes are included throughout the School Performance Reports to explain where data is missing or impacted by COVID-19 and a new Impact of COVID-19 on Data Availability resource is available to summarize this information.
Enhancements to the 2019-2020 School Performance Reports
The 2019-2020 reports include changes that respond to stakeholder feedback collected over the last several years and during the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes include:
New report design with improved visuals and new navigational tools
Additional data about graduation cohorts to provide more information about students who do not graduate
New resources to help explain the impact of COVID-19 on the availability of data in the reports
A new narrative field, “Learning During COVID-19”, to give districts an opportunity to share information on how they responded to the COVID-19 pandemic

Toms River Intermediate North presents:

Cap and Gown Distribution and Pictures
All pre-purchased graduation gowns will be distributed as per the schedule below on April 28, 29 and 30, 2021.
April 28th – All gowns will be delivered to Group C (In-Person) students in their Homeroom.
April 29th – Virtual students may pick up their gowns between 12 – 2PM.
April 30th – All students may pick up their gowns between 8AM and 2PM.
If you have not yet purchased a gown and would like to do so we will have a small supply on hand for cash and carry during the pick-up times on April 29th and 30th.
Graduation Cap and Gown pictures will be taken on May 10th, 11th and 12th.
May 10 – All Group C (In-Person) students in cycles 81 and 82 will have their pictures taken today in the IMC. Please bring your cap and gown to school today.
May 11 – All Group C (In Person) students in Cycles 83, 84 and 85 will have their pictures taken in the IMC today. Please bring your cap and gown to school today.
May 11 – 12PM to 2PM – All Virtual Students may come to have their pictures taken in the IMC – Please be sure to bring your cap and gown, mask and completed Covid Screening Form with you.
May 12 - 9:00AM – 11:00AM – Last call for all In Person students to get their picture taken. Bring your cap and gown to school.

Shark Tank Competition Application for Grades 6-7
Toms River Regional Schools was recently awarded a Perkins grant used for students to prepare for Careers. This particular activity is designed to help sixth and seventh grade students increase their career awareness in the fields of Finance, Digital Arts and Engineering. Finance, Digital Arts and Engineering are programs of study students can apply to in eighth grade and participate in later at the high school level.
Thursday afternoons starting May 6th, from 2:30-4:30PM (except Tuesday, May 25), students in grades six and seven will work in teams of 3 to brainstorm and design a unique product, build a prototype, design a marketing plan and develop a business plan for potential investors. Groups of students will collaborate to develop a presentation to pitch their product to investors who will decide how to invest their money. Team members will each have specific responsibilities in the areas of finance, digital arts and engineering. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Sessions will be virtual, but hands-on, supported by mentors from across the community, collaborative- and in some cases, some socially distanced, masked, optional in-person activities will be available. Sessions will run 2:30-4:30. We will have a kickoff on May 6 followed by activities May 13, May 20 and May 25 (a Tuesday), followed by help from mentors from across the community finalizing the prototype on June 3, The design and pitch will be presented June 10 and winners and awards will be celebrated June 17. There will be local trip opportunities for many students constrained by budget, and facility capacity as well as prizes and recognitions!
This opportunity is free. Space is limited to 27 for each school to participate in the competition and events. The trip will unfortunately be limited to 9 intermediate students. Devices may be available to borrow if you do not have appropriate hardware already at home.
