A word from Mr Broom

Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone for completing the online permissions/consent and home/school agreement. We've had 100% responses for the first time!

It's been a very busy week in school. Of course, our Y6 children have been out at Low Mill (Wensleydale) on their residential, so it's been rather quiet without Miss Sowden, Mrs Allen-Warren and especially Mr Wooffindin. I visited the group for dinner on Tuesday evening and the roast beef and Yorkshire puddings were going down a storm. That day, the group had been abseiling, gorge-walking and kayaking; they made light work of dinner!

Meanwhile back at school, it's been business as usual. It's been lesson observations week for the teachers. This is where I visit lessons on a formal basis to look at the quality of teaching and learning. It was an absolute pleasure to see so many wonderful learning experiences being enjoyed by the children, who were all keen to share their work with me. Teaching is a strength at our school and it's only getting stronger!

Finally, we ventured to the top of the school drive to watch the cycling world championships fly by. It was a wonderful experience, even if it was over in a flash.

Have a lovely weekend.

Work Focus

Oil paintings in the style of impressionism and making spaghetti towers (building resilience) from Mr Kelly's Year 5s.

A musical request from Mr. Kelly

Mr Kelly will once again be starting his music club in the coming weeks and further information will follow. To make it a real success he's asking for kind donations of musical keyboards. If you're like me, you probably bought one as a Christmas present, only to file it nicely in the loft! Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Attendance Good this Week!

With an average of 96.4%, our attendance was above the national average this week. Well done everyone and congratulations to Year 4, who are our attendance champions this week.

Census Day Meals

The school census day is next Thursday (3rd October) and a lot of our funding depends on the number of children taking a school meal on that day. We've therefore changed the menu to Hot Dogs, Curly Fries, Coleslaw, Salad and Fruit Jelly. We'll be giving a sample meal to all KS1 and Reception children even if they bring a pack up. Thank you for your support with this.

School Photographs Information

The school photographer will be in school on Monday 7th October for individual photographs. They'll be in school from 0800 for photos of pre-school children with siblings in school. This session is very popular so it's likely that you may have a considerable wait.

Photographs for this period have to be wrapped up by 0845 and therefore, we offer this on a 'first-come-first-serve' basis. Children, don't forget to bring your smile!

Registering Interest for Nursery Places

If you will be considering nursery provision for your younger children in the future please let us know. We review our nursery provision regularly and information on predicted numbers is essential to help with planning. Those on the register are also welcome to come along to the monthly stay and play sessions to meet other families with young children and our local childminders.
