CM1 to Fort Davis
Our students had a remarkable time at University of Texas's McDonald Observatory and Prude Ranch! Atop Mount Davis, they visited the observatory and saw Saturn, Mars, nebulae, star clusters, and another galaxy! At the Fort Davis National Site students enjoyed a picnic, went horseback riding, and went for a swim before enjoying a twilight star party. Thank you to our students for making the most out of this experience and to their chaperones: Ms. Penylene, Mr. Cedric, Ms. Prema, & Mr. Jhino for leading the adventures.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thanks to our families for engaging in meaningful discussions with our teaching teams about student progress. We held 430 individual meetings on campus over these two days - up from 350 last spring! Thanks to everyone's timeliness, we were able to successfully minimize disruptions to our scheduled meetings. Thank you for your support! If, for any reason, you were unable to meet with your child's teacher, please feel free to reach out directly by email to schedule a time to meet after the Fall Break. We look forward to your continued partnership throughout the year.
MAP Results
We are pleased to report all students have completed their MAP assessments - and in record time! Our new technology has streamlined our testing processes and reliability has minimized disruptions to overall testing. Our next step is to close out the process for Fall 2018 and generate reports for families.
- Families who have previously attended MAP Information Sessions: You will receive your child(ren)'s MAP report(s) by email.
- Families who have not previously attended MAP Information Sessions: Please be on the lookout for more information about regular sessions that will run over the next month. Attendance at one of these sessions is required before receiving reports.

Student Council Elections-Tue., 10/23
Our student council elections will be held on Tue., 10/23 in each class. Our student council is composed of 2 representatives from each class in CE2, CM1, & CM2, and 1 representative from 6è and 5è. Student council members will gain valuable skills as they lead the school student assemblies. In order to run for student council:
- Students must return a permission slip to one of their teachers to participate
- Campaigning will occur from Tue., 10/16 - Tue., 10/22
- Students are responsible for creating their own campaign materials outside of school.
- Students will need to prepare a speech to present in class about why they should be elected to the student council during the campaign week.
Elected student council members will meet on Tuesdays from 11:25-11:55 am on assembly weeks and on non-assembly weeks on Thursdays from 11:25-11:55 am. Best of luck!

You don't have to be an AIS community member to attend. Make sure to share the event flyer with your friends and neighbors!
If you can't attend, you can still support the event by filling out this pre-order form after picking out your favorite items online. A Kendra Scott associate will call you from this store phone:(512) 879-3174 on the day of the event (10/26).
