November 5-8
Quick Notes
- Save the date! We will take our first field trip on Monday, November 18. Permission slips and payment information forms were sent home on Wednesday, October 30. Please fill out the forms and return them by Wednesday, November 6.
- Please initial your child's CR chart (in their binder) and their reading log every night.
- Don't forget to label cool weather items!
- Please continue to send healthy snacks (that are not messy/sticky/gooey) and refillable water bottles each day.
Important Dates
- Monday, November 4- Student holiday, Professional Learning for Staff
- Wednesday, November 6- Field trip permission form and payment due
- Monday, November 11- Veteran's Day. Everyone is invited to celebrate our veterans by wearing red, white, and blue. Join us for a beautiful program presented by our 3rd and 4th graders beginning at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. - Monday, November 18- Field Trip to the Perot Museum. Students should wear their class t-shirt, comfortable walking shoes, and a jacket. Please send a completely disposable sack lunch and water bottle. We will not visit the gift shop so please do not send money with your child.
- Monday, November 25-Friday, November 29- Thanksgiving Break. No school.
Weekly Learning Objectives
Reading- As we read nonfiction we will pay attention to details, ask questions, and will tell what specific parts of the text teaches us.
FunDations (phonics study)- We will learn about vowel teams ee, ea, ey, oi, and oy.
Please Remember- read with your child for 20 minutes each evening. We are doing a great job with our reading with reading logs. Your child only needs one or two sticky notes per evening. Your child can write their thoughts, questions, or words they find interesting on their sticky notes. Please remind your child to fill it in each evening and please initial it. Please help your child remember to place their folder with their reading log and book back in their backpack. Thanks!
Writing- We will learn how to write like scientists by recording data and using precise language in a lab report.
Science- We will learn about the basic needs of living things.
Math- We will name and identify the faces, edges, and vertices of 3D shapes.
Quick Idea- Ask your child for real-world examples of different shapes (sphere, cone, cube, rectangular prism)
