Dribbling
When you are dribbling you should dribble with your fingertips. This will give you more control with the ball. Also, while dribbling you should dribble the ball low and keep your hand on the top of the ball while dribbling, dribbling it at the side of the ball might be called a carry.
Shooting
When shooting you should have your dominant hand on the top of the basketball and you non-dominant hand at the side of the ball as a guide hand
Bounce Pass
For the bounce pass you are aiming to bounce the ball about 3/4 of the way to your target.
Chest Pass
For the chest pass you are aiming to pass the ball to your targets chest without the ball hitting the ground
Overhead pass
For the overhead pass you are passing the ball from above your head and aiming to throw it to targets head.
Tips, Skills, and Drills: Passing
Point guard. Shooting Guard, and Small Forward
The point guard is usually the smallest player on the team. The point guard needs to be able to pass the ball really good and be able to dribble the ball good. Also, the point guard needs to be able to shoot the ball somewhat good. The shooting guard is usually the second smallest player on the team. For this position you have to be able to shoot the ball really good and be able to dribble and pass pretty good. The small forward is usually the third tallest on the team. For this position you have to be able to play defense good and be able to shoot better than the power forward and you need to be able to drive the ball to the basket.
Power Forward and Center
The power forward is usually the second tallest on the team. For this position you have to be physical and have to be able to shoot the ball from the middle and close to the basket. The center is the tallest on the team. For this position you need to be able to rebound the ball good, shoot the ball from close distances and be able to play good defense.
Some Rules and fouls
Traveling- Take more than 2 steps without dribbling the ball
Double Dribble- Stop dribbling and then start dribbling again
3 in the key- Can't stay in the painted area for longer than 3 seconds at a time
Goaltending- Can''t touch the shot if it is on its way down.
Shooting foul- When defender makes contact with the person that's shooting, if this foul happens the person who gets fouled will shoot 2 or 3 free throws depending on where they shot the ball from
Reach in- When the defender makes contact with the dribbler when trying to steal the ball
