Term 3, Week 9

Hello, Kia ora, Chomreabsour, Mālo ni, Ni hao, Kia orāna, Talofa lava, Namaste, Hola, Hallo, Chào bạn, Bula Vinaka, Kumusta, Guten Tag, Mālō e lelei , An-nyeong-ha-se-yo, greetings to all our School Families.

From the principal's desk

Kia ora koutou,

I feel it’s timely that I thank our School Community for all of their cooperation, support and resilience displayed over these covid affected years. With further restrictions being lifted recently, I know life is starting to feel closer to normal. Fingers crossed that we can have a long covid free run. It was such a great feeling yesterday to be able to host the Waikato Full Primary Cross Country. This was the first time in three years we had held it due to Covid restrictions. All 45 schools taking part loved being part of a big organised sporting event again.

Road Crossing Safety

A reminder that Stanley Avenue is a very busy road and close calls happen even when students are crossing the road with their parents. That is why we encourage all families that need to cross Stanley Avenue to use our School Crossing. Lately, I have been talking to those families not using the crossing, encouraging them to use it. For some families they are new and are unaware of our crossing expectations for others it’s a convenience thing. For everyone's safety let’s make sure we use the School Crossing. A big thank you goes out to all of those families that use the Crossing everyday, you are setting a great example!

Ngā mihi ki a tātou

John Byers

Waikato Full Primary Cross Country 2022

On Wednesday Stanley Avenue School hosted representatives from 45 schools across the greater Waikato region. The Waikato Full Primary is exclusive to Year 7/8 runners only from full primary schools. The weather held for the day, and some stand out performances were achieved from our Stanley Avenue students.

In large fields (average 70 runners) our students ran to the best of their ability and produced some great results. Of note Blake Watts came 4th, Xavier Van Kuijk 6th, Connor Wood 8th and Charlie Knight 26th, all in the Year 7 Boys race. This meant they were the second placed team overall. In the Year 7 Girls race, Oceane Opie finished a respectable 20th place.

Overall the entire Stanley Avenue team placed second in the 100-300 schools category. A tremendous achievement!

A big thank you must go out to the staff and parents who assisted and made the day the success it was.

Thank you

John Byers

Hockey Fun day 2022

Thank you to Mrs Meyler, Miss Williams, Mrs Hamilton and all the parents who took transport and managed teams on the day. Check out the photos below. Maybe you might like to take part next year!

Waikato Regional Gymsport Competition 2022

Madeleine French, Hannah Corrigan, and Trilese Large competed at the Waikato regional Gymsport Competition in Hamilton yesterday in the Open Junior Category along with Ariana Parker who was entered into the Open Junior Advanced Category. All of our gymnasts competed well and represented Stanley Avenue School beautifully. Special mention to Ariana who received a 6th overall. Thank you to Stacey Eagle who provided transport, but more importantly gives of her time as the girl's coach each and every week.

Great job ladies!!

Team Tui trip to Middle earth

On Wednesday 15 September, Team Tui travelled to Matamata to visit Hobbiton. When we arrived at Hobbiton we had to go on a bus all the way up the hills to where the film set and Hobbit holes were. Team Tui really enjoyed the free ginger beer and the dressing up. Team Tui learnt that the giant oak tree above Bilbo Baggins Hobbit Hole is made out of metal, wood and clay. We really enjoyed the experience and learning about places to visit in our community.

We just want to thank all the Parents and Caregivers who helped transport the students to Hobbiton.
