Ten Tips from Aussies Love BC experts
What’s the first thing guests should do when they arrive at Silver Star?
Check in to their slopeside accommodation and head over to Guest Services to learn what's happening during their stay. Every week we offer new activities and events.
What are your picks for re-fueling on the mountain?
When you ride the 'backside', there’s no question that you re-fuel at Paradise Camp which is at the top of the Powder Gulch Chair, it’s got a great atmosphere.
Where can you find the best coffee?
Most Aussies flock to Bugaboo’s but Coffee+ in Town Hall brews a mean java!
Can you name some unique or unusual off-mountain activities to try?
Silver Star has Canada’s only Ski in Ski Out Bowling Alley! Take the Snowshoe tour out to Horseman’s Cabin - deep in the forest - for a great meal, then enjoy a Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride back to the village. Another unique activity is the Cross Country Ski Tour up to Paradise Camp, to enjoy dinner at the top of the mountain when the lifts are closed.
Apres-Time: Where should they head to straight off the mountain?
Everyone loves Long John’s for apres ski, although they’ll have to check out the new 1609 that will open this season. It’s a new trendy spot for our Silver Star guests. Those who want to make a night of it, should head to the Saloon for great music, vibes and drinks.
What are the ‘unmissable’ Dining venues in your resort?
The cinnamon buns at Bugaboos, the local food & wines at Silver Grill, lasagna at Long Johns, and the ice cream at the Final Run Bar & Bistro.
Any insider ‘logistics tips’ to make their vacation even more enjoyable?
Forget the car, you can walk everywhere in our ski-in ski-out mid-mountain village!
Where do the Aussies tend to hang out at the moment?
You’ll find most at Bugaboos during the morning coffee run. Then try and find our Aussie owner on the slopes! Stop into the Den most nights for lively apres with music and dinner.
What’s something brand new we can tell someone who come every year?
We now offer the latest in state of the art robotic tuning and waxing technologies for skis, snowboards, and XC skis at the Double Diamond Service Centre. The new Family Snowsports Academy Canada (FSAC) on-snow program launches in late December catering to Interschools and is endorsed by Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA). Last but not least, free wi-fi access throughout the village!
What’s the ultimate souvenir of your Resort?
The amazing memories and new friends you’ll make!
