What are we learning?
ELA: We are continuing to work on greek roots, parts of speech, reading for comprehension, discussing books, types of writing (expository, descriptive, narrative, persuasive), and finding evidence to support your answer. We have also began to talk about the them of a story.
Science: We are finishing 2 projects. We are finishing up our newton's laws popplet. A popplet is an online way to organize a project by adding videos, pictures, and work in groups with others on the same document. We are also finishing a webquest project where the students create a roller coaster online and then describe what forces and motions make a roller coaster exciting!
Math: We are finishing up Topic 7 for math. Your kids have been learning to divide decimals by 10,100, or 1,000, estimate decimal quotients, dividing by whole numbers, dividing whole numbers by a decimal, and dividing a decimal by a decimal.
Upcoming...
After break we will be working on...
ELA: point of view, sequence of a story, compare and contrast, and reasons and evidence.
Writing: We will continue working on research and the 6 traits of writing.
Social Studies: We will be starting a new unit on the American Colonies.
Math: When we return from break, we will review dividing decimals and take the Topic 7 test and then move on to Topic 8.
