He was the former owner of Manor farm. He mistreated his animals, was very irresponsible, and all the animals wanted to over throw him. His purpose in Animal Farm was to be overthrown by his mistreated animals, and play the role of the hated farmer.

Mr. Jones represents Tsar Nicholas II the former leader of Russia, before he was exiled then assassinated by Vladimer Lenin. He mistreated the citizens of Russia.
