We will have some fun giveaways for you after the meeting!

Doyle Garden Volunteers

Doyle is fortunate enough to have a lovely garden and pond out near the field that our students are able to visit and explore!

Our team is asking for some parent volunteers who are willing to help out Coach Harris in the upkeep of the garden. Upkeep could include de-weeding, ensuring the walkways are clear, and general gardening. Whether you have a green thumb or not, we would love to have you!

Interested? Reach out to Coach Harris at nharris1@sandi.net

COVID Testing Update

The District is launching it's newest phase of the COVID-19 testing program as we expand the availability of home test kits.

Beginning Jan. 30, 2023, COVID-19 testing will shift from weekly site testing to an all home test kit model. Students and staff who wish to test regularly, or as needed, may pick up free home test kits from their school or office through the end of the 2022-23 school year.

As a reminder, individuals should not attend work or school if they are feeling sick or experiencing symptoms of any cold-like virus, until those symptoms start to improve and there is no fever for 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medication). If any student or staff tests positive for COVID-19, please do not attend work or school and report the illness here.

Grades 2-5 GATE Testing Window

Grades 2-4 and select grade 5 students will be receiving a letter home regarding GATE testing. Window for testing is January 30 - February 28th.

Please be sure to sign and return the letters as soon as possible.

More information about GATE testing can be found at the San Diego Unified School District Website

Save the Date for Math Night at Doyle

The PTA is excited to invite you to Math Night on Friday, February 3, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm!

Mathnasium of La Jolla will be organizing this fun event, which will focus on math games and activities. This is a free event for Doyle families (all children must be accompanied by an adult), and it will be held in the school auditorium.

California Reads - FINAL WEEK

The annual PTA Reading Program will end this week, on Saturday, January 28. Please ensure that your children's reading log information is submitted to the California Reads Google Classroom before then so their minutes can be counted. Students who participated in the program will be recognized during the Super Star Award ceremonies that will be held in March.

Join the Doyle PTA Board for 23-24 School Year

The Doyle PTA runs on 100% volunteers. A volunteer put together this message and without volunteers there would not be a Doyle PTA. We are looking for people to join the PTA Board for the 2023-24 school year. More information at: https://doylepta.org/volunteer.html, translations here; https://www.smore.com/g9hy2

If you or someone you know would be a great addition to our PTA Board, please fill out the nomination form at https://doylepta.org/volunteer.html

Korean Language Translator Needed for Library

The Doyle library is looking for someone that can review our selection of Korean books & see if any need to be removed and help us translate titles of Korean books that need to be put on the shelf. This work could be done in 1-2 hours or just a little bit here and there right before pickup. If you can help, please reach out to our Doyle library at lsmith9@sandi.net

Doyle Running & Walking Club

Join us for Running & Walking Club on Friday mornings, beginning at 7:20. Kids (and parents) are encouraged to run or walk around the blacktop before heading into school. It's a great way to get some exercise and get ready to learn. No sign up is needed - just come join in the fun!

Volunteer Process

We are always looking for volunteers and sincerely appreciate all the time and efforts offered to help our school and students succeed!

Before you sign up to volunteer, please make sure you have:

* filled out the volunteer application. Printed copies can be picked up in our front office

* provided the office with a copy of your COVID vaccination status

* provide the office with a copy of your negative TB test. Alternatively, you can stop by our Health Office on Monday's and Tuesday's from 1-2 for a TB screening by our school nurse.

Volunteers with infants: At this time, we cannot accept volunteers onsite or field trips if you need to have other infant children present. Doyle appreciates all offers of volunteers - we know your time is valuable and hope you can understand.

We are currently working on a NEW designated space for parent volunteers with infants/toddlers. What does this mean? This will allow you to connect with other parents while helping out our classes here on campus without being directly in the class. Our offices will reach out as soon as this space is ready.

Doyle thanks you for all your support!
