P.E. Happenings!
The shift in temperature over the past couple of days has been amazing as it has given our physical education classes the opportunity to get back outside for the first time since fall. This week, most classes were able to warm-up with one or two laps on the track. I personally was all smiles being able to get out in the sunshine and breathe the fresh air once again.
This week, we completed our first couple of days of pickleball. Students worked on the underhand serve as well as their forehand stroke. Next week, we will work on our backhand and put our skills into gameplay settings. Pickleball is one of my favorite units because I get to teach students the necessary skills to participate in a game that can be played by so many different age groups. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend it. Lowell has some beautiful courts across from the Lowell Meijer.
We are just over halfway through our Kids Heart Challenge Fundraiser sponsored by the American Heart Association. So far, we have raised just over $2,000. Keep up the good work and remember that if you raise $100, you earn the opportunity to pie a willing teacher of your choice!
Please make sure to send your student with appropriate athletic shoes on physical education days. Stay healthy, keep active, and go blue!
