CMAS Results
In August of this year, we received our state assessment scores from last spring (March 2021).
The charts below show our students’ achievement scores compared to the district and state (% of students that met or exceeded expectations).
We continue to lead the district and state with our academic results!
Great work students, staff, and families!
How do we do it?
Our teachers fill each moment of your child's day with extremely valuable learning and high-quality, engaging, meaningful content and fun.
Our support staff guide, assist, and support students and teachers in creating an environment that serves students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
You, our families, prioritize your child's attendance, homework, and general behavior. Incredible things happen at PK8 and we could not do it without all of your support and trust in what we do.
Please continue to partner with your child's teacher and the school to give your child the best every day.

Thank you Farm-to-School and all volunteers who helped get us going on our greenhouse and garden beds!

Services and Consumers: 1st graders learn about local organizations and how to cash a check to buy ice cream!

City Market Donates Money to PK8!
Each quarter City Market distributes $100,000 among participating organizations (based on spending percentages of enrolled customers).
Help our school earn a bigger slice of that pie by selecting Paonia Elementary School to earn dollars on your everyday purchases. (The funds will benefit all grades at Paonia K-8; the City Market company simply still has our name in as Paonia Elementary School.)
After logging into City Market's page, it just took me less than a minute to link my card to PES! Enroll online at: https://www.citymarket.com/topic/city-market-community-rewards

Safety Training
Paonia K-8 School will continue to utilize A.L.I.C.E. training for our school safety training.
During this year, we will be completing 4 separate A.L.I.C.E. trainings. These trainings are informational sessions focused on educating students of the different processes of Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. The teachers will be educating students of each of the elements of A.L.I.C.E. During second semester, we will be completing one full A.L.I.C.E. drill. More details and explanations will be provided in January.
October 6: A.L.I.C.E. overview with a focus on Alert and Inform. Teachers will be providing age-appropriate instruction on an overview of A.L.I.C.E. along with an explanation of how to alert and inform when danger may exist.
November 12: A.L.I.C.E. overview with a focus on Counter. Teachers will be providing age-appropriate instruction on an overview of A.L.I.C.E. along with an explanation of how to counter when danger exists.
January 13: A.L.I.C.E. overview with a focus on Evacuate. Teachers will be providing age-appropriate instruction on an overview of A.L.I.C.E. along with an explanation of how to evacuate when danger exists. We will then practice evacuating the building in a similar manner to our fire drills. For a full evacuation, our designated meeting location is the Teen Center. We will NOT fully evacuate to this location during this training.
March 24: A.L.I.C.E. overview with a focus on Lockdown. Teachers will be providing age-appropriate instruction on an overview of A.L.I.C.E. along with an explanation of how to Lockdown when danger exists. During this Lockdown practice, students will practice barricading the classroom door in order to prevent classroom entrance. Classroom doors will then only be opened with a key from the principal or the school resource officer.
