What Types of Programs Are Offered?
The Bumpus Middle School Counseling Program is designed to focus on increasing academic performance, preparing each student to be college and career ready, and creating a positive school climate. School wide programs focus on Bully Prevention, Character Education, Tolerance, and Respect. Grade Level Programs focus on College and Career Awareness, Study Skills, Goal Setting, and Time Management
How Does A Student See The Counselor?
Students can see their Grade Level Counselor in any of the following ways: Self Referral, Request of the Counselor, Parent Request, Administrator Referral, Teacher Referral, or Referral by friends
What Services Are Offered?
Students may see their Grade Level Counselor for small group and individual counseling to assist them with a variety of concerns and problems including: conflict resolution, academic improvement, friendship, divorce, grief and loss, and crisis intervention.
Parents are free to call or email their child's Grade Level Counselor at any time to set up a meeting or discuss academic, social, or personal concerns. Your child's Grade Level Counselor can also help to arrange parent-teacher conferences as well as provide outside referrals for intervention.
The Counseling Department also hosts the following: Coffee With The Counselors, Red Ribbon Week, The Career Speaker Program, New Student Transition Meetings, 6th-7th Grade Transition Meetings, 8th-9th Grade Transition Meetings, and Finley Nomination Meeting
