Leopard Tales
September 2019
Admins Corner
It’s hard to believe that we are already into our 3rd week of school. I’d like to thank each of you for a very smooth start to the school year! I hope that you all had a restful and fun Labor Day weekend. For my family this was a special time to travel to the mountains and spend time with our family and friends. It seemed to give us the perfect ending to summer.
Throughout the year our school wide character focus will be kindness. Additionally, Dr. Davis has declared September as Kindness Month in Richland Two. We will be discussing this at school and I encourage you to continue the discussion at home. I don’t know about you, but car rides to and from school are a very special time for our family. I find that when my kids are strapped in their booster seats I have a captive audience to talk with them about various important topics. I sometimes find that my questions are very generic like, “How was your day?” but some days their responses to this question don’t take us very far. This month I am making a commitment to focus on the topic kindness during our car rides. I am going to ask my children each day, “Can you tell me about an act of kindness you saw today?” I truly believe that as we focus on the kindness that surrounds us each day, we see more opportunities to extend kindness to others. I hope you will join me in this challenge and I look forward to hearing your stories of kindness in action.
We will continue to monitor the weather closely this week. Please look for any updates regarding potential changes in schedule to school to come from the District.
I am hopeful that you will join us for Curriculum Night this Thursday, September 5. We will host two sessions. The first session will be at 6:00 pm and the second session will begin at 6:35 pm. We typically encourage families to attend the session for their youngest child first. If you haven’t done so already, this is a great opportunity to join the PTA!

A Letter from CFK PTA
Dear Center for Knowledge Families,
On behalf of the PTA, we would like to welcome you back to what we are sure will be another fantastic year! We would like to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and our new families.
The PTA is a community-based non-profit organization that spends every penny to improve our school and the lives of our students. At CFK, the PTA funds the science and library teachers and their programs, puts technology in the classrooms, books in the hands of our students, equipment on the playground, organizes fun school and family events, and takes care of endless other behind-the-scenes needs that our students and faculty have.
This year promises to bring more opportunities and more avenues to do more for our school, but WE NEED YOUR HELP!
While we deeply appreciate our volunteers and all of their hard work, our greatest need is membership dues to further our goals. Since CFK is a magnet school, our science and library teacher’s salaries are not funded by the school district. The PTA relies 100% on parent donations, each year, to fund these salaries and to keep these and other school programs active.
Joining the PTA does not require a time commitment. Membership in the PTA is open to anyone and offers the opportunity to make a difference in the education, health, and welfare of our students and faculty. Please complete your membership form and either submit it online or return it to your child’s teacher by Friday, September 6, 2019. Remember, all donations are tax deductible.
***As an added incentive, any class to reach 100% participation in PTA memberships by the September 6th deadline this year will receive a special treat!***
Thank you, and we look forward to working with you throughout this school year.
Sincerely,
CFK PTA Executive Board
