Slavery
Lincoln claimed that he was anti-slavery meaning he was against slavery's expansion, but didn't call for immediate emancipation. He eventually issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slave in the states that were in the rebellion. He supported the 13th Amendment which got rid of slavery throughout America and he recommended allowing African Americans to vote.
John M. Palmer
John Palmer became a Republican presidential elector in 1860, and was a friend of Lincoln who got him nominated. He was appointed by Lincoln to be a delegate to the peace convention in Washington in 1861.
National Union Party
The party Lincoln belonged to. The name was used by the Republican Party for the national ticket in the 1864 presidential election held during the Civil War.
Southern Secession
Lincoln claimed that they did not have the right to secede because a government that allows secession will turn into an anarchy, Americans are not enemies, but friends, and secession would demolish the only democracy existing in the world and it would show that this is a government that can't survive.
