January 9, 2022

Note from the Principal's Desk

As we welcome 2022, I want to take a moment to commend our Huntley Hills parents, students and staff for starting the year virtually. Parents, thank you for everything you’ve done to support our tigers and to build a strong school community. Thank you for your commitment, passion, and dedication to make Huntley Hills the BEST!

We look forward to seeing our tigers Monday, January 10, 2022.

Due to the current level of exposures/cases, please be patient as there may be possible bus delays and staff coverage for absences. Everyone is doing their best to keep our students and staff safe, in the meantime keeping schools open.

A friendly reminder all staff and students must wear a mask daily.

Tiger Time after school care resumes as scheduled Monday. As usual, the weekly payment is due on Monday. If you are interested in your child attending Tiger Time, the fee is $60 a week with a $25.00 registration fee. You can see Ms. Branch, coordinator, at the school to register.

If your home has a current exposure or positive case, email Nurse Khan for guidance. Also, contact the homeroom teacher if your child is in quarantine due to exposure. Teachers will ensure students are not reported absent and will get a work packet ready for parent pickup while your child is in quarantines. Virtual learning is not available for students in quarantine.

Lastly, if you have a rising 6th graders, Chamblee MS will host a virtual parent orientation January 13, 2022 at 6:00pm. The flyer is below.

We hope you had a good week and students are ready to come back to school! The weather has changed so make sure your tiger is dressed and bundled warmly each day.

As always, if your child is feeling sick, please keep him/her home. Contact Nurse Khan at faiza_khan@dekalbschoolsga.org for questions.

Chromebooks are due back to the school Monday morning. For your convenience, parents can place your child's Chromebook and charger in their book bag. Remember, your child can not use their Chromebook during the day without the charge cord. Chromebooks are placed in a charging station and each child has their own charger. Please don't forget the charger. For PBIS, students who return their Chromebook and charger will receive 5 Tiger Bucks for being responsible.

We continue to adjust the morning carpool to ensure the safety of all students. Therefore, starting Monday, November 1, please follow the guidelines below during morning carpool.

  • Students should be in their seats by 7:40 am
  • The carpool starts at 7:00 am. Please begin entering carpool at least by 7:10am-7:15 am to help eliminate congestion at 7:35 am. 10 minutes is not enough time for staff to assist students inside the building from carpool before 7:40 am
  • There is No student drop off from the street or street parking spaces. Parents MUST walk across the front parking lot with their child(ren) to the school. It's the responsibility of parents to get students to the front door of the building.
  • Carpool is a no cell phone zone
  • Have students READY to exit the vehicle
  • Follow the directions of staff and the Security Resource Officer (SRO). The SRO can issue tickets for violations of city signs.
  • Right turn only exiting the school

Morning Reminders:

  • 7:00am-school opens to students
  • 7:40am-students should be in their seats
  • 7:45am-studets are tardy; announcements and instruction begins

We appreciate the support of all families to help us make coming to school safe each day.

¡Gracias!
