Week of September 7-10

First Week Back Principal Update

Our first week back was an adventure. We had a red carpet welcome for our students as they entered the building and it was a joy to see student's excitement as the entered the building. We are looking forward to a great second week.

Welcome Back Packets

Your student will be bringing a Welcome Back Packet home with them towards the end of the week. We ask that you send back to school the brown awknowledgement form and COVID Testing Consent form located in the packet. Your homeroom teacher will collect these.

This acknowledges that you have received our Community Handbook (which can also always be found on our website HERE), you have updated your student verification form online, applied for Free and Reduced Lunch (if applicable), and returned the COVID-19 Testing Consent Form. Your teachers will be collecting these acknowledgments. Please do so by September 24th, 2021. Hard copies are available via the CSS Office.

Verification information is as follows:

Every year we request that parents go online and log in to ParentVUE and verify that all of their contact information and student information is correct. This is essential because we need to be able to reach you for emergencies, send important school information, mail report cards etc.

Get started by going to parentvue.pps.net and walking through the steps for the Yearly Online Verification. The middle tab.

Please sign the letter that was included in your child's back-to-school packet to indicate that you have done the Online Yearly Verification and have reviewed the Community Handbook. Paper copies will be available in the office. Thank you!

Site Council Volunteers

Site Council is a group of administrators, teachers, students and parents that provide input on ways to support the school community. By providing leadership through assessing the needs of our community, we identify CSS priorities and determine avenues to support them. Having a site council with representatives of our various community stakeholders is crucial during this time. Site Council will meet monthly. Our bylaws suggest four parent/guardians and one community member. If you are interested in serving on the CSS Site Council, please contact Lacy McKinney at lmckinney1@pps.net or (503) 916-6431.

Back To School Night Update

All PPS schools are being asked to transition Back To School Night to be held virtually. Our Back To School Night scheduled on Thursday September 23rd will now be held virtually. More details will be coming on how to access this event.

Weekly Reminders


  • Masks on Campus

    Thanks to all students and families for wearing your mask on campus! This keeps our students, staff, and community members safe.

    Masks must be worn by students and adults at all times. If you or your child has a medical condition that makes wearing a mask a challenge, please email me immediately, at adauch@pps.net, so that we can work with you.

    Dogs on Campus

    Dogs are not allowed on campus during school hours, 7:00 am-6:00 pm. Please do not bring your dog to school.

    Dogs off-leash are not allowed on PPS school grounds at any time. We are hopeful that the school communities will help to inform visitors of these rules as we continue to work toward keeping our schools clean and safe for our students and the community.

    Tardy Sign-In

    If your student is late they must sign-in to the front office every time. Please bring them to the front doors of the school and direct them to the office to sign in and grab a tardy slip. The front door is open until 9:05 am. After that time, please ring the bell near the camera for assistance. Please do not send your student directly to class as they will be marked absent. Thank you.

    TAG Information

PPS Southeast Guiding Coalition Listening Sessions

Portland Public Schools has launched a multi-year process to balance student enrollment and programs across the district. As part of this effort, a PPS Southeast Guiding Coalition (SEGC) has been tasked with developing a plan for adjusting school boundaries, feeder patterns, and/or program placements at Lane Middle School and Harrison Park K-8 School. The District is committed to utilizing an authentic, inclusive, and transparent process to garner ideas from diverse communities and develop a representative, inspiring vision for the future. To this end, the District seeks to engage stakeholders from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds in meaningful conversations about how PPS schools can best serve Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students. These conversations will inform the development of potential enrollment balancing scenarios that align with the District's racial equity / social justice (RESJ) goals and honor the experiences of BIPOC families.

Additional details, including session dates and time, are listed in the attached flyer. All dialogue sessions will be held virtually via Zoom. If you are a current or incoming BIPOC student, parent, or teacher at Lane, Harrison Park, or a neighboring school, please complete a registration form for an upcoming dialogue session by selecting the appropriate link below.
