Reading Celebration!
To celebrate the progress that one of our 2nd-grade classrooms has made over the year, students showcased their super reading skills. They did this by putting on performances for their reading buddies which included readers theater, short plays, and other dramatic pieces!
PJ Story Hour is Next Tuesday, March 29th, Starting at 6:40pm!
Colonial Living Museum
5th graders took over the cafetorium this week in a whirlwind presentation of what life was like in colonial times! Each table represented a different colony, and students presented about economy, daily life, jobs, and other fascinating facts! This was a super example of a performance-based task that was the result of a lot of hard work and research that integrated informational text, art, technology, collaboration and presentation skills. The presentations mixed live presenters with VoiceThread movies on laptops!

Understanding Characters
Students in one third grade classroom have been using inferential skills to better understand characters in a text. They did this by reading the text closely and looking at what a character says and thinks, and how they act or react to things around them. I love how these reading posters feature wonderful artwork as well as how the post-its are integrated into an explanation of the character!
Shapes Everywhere!
Kindergarteners have been studying shapes and learning how different shapes can combine to create a larger shape. In these photos, students created their own larger shapes using the two-dimensional shapes that they had been learning about!
