More about the book. "That was then, this is now."

In the book, "That was then, this is now." the authors message about violence, is that violence happens everywhere. One example of this is when Charlie gets shot and Mark tells Bryon that everyone dies at some point, half of the time its because of violence. I think violence is unnecessary at some points. Only time i believe in violence is when you are protecting yourself or someone else. Another example of this is when Mark and Bryon use violence to protect M&M from rich kids on the other side of town.
