PreK

This week in Pre-KB we are learning; the letter V, reviewing numbers (6-10), reviewing colors (black, blue, purple, orange, pink), reviewing shapes (circle, trapezoid, hexagon, octagon, pentagon), working on sight words (see, my), and working on rhyming words (cake, fan, hat). This week in Pre-K C we are learning about the letter V, about determining temperature, and all about the weather. Ms. Ingroum

This week, we are thinking about the places we go and the ways we travel. We are focusing on letter Vv and reviewing numbers and shapes. Continue to review letter names and sounds at home with your child. -Mrs. Vasquez

Kindergarten

Please remember to send water bottles daily! This week in English words to know are: tell, well, who, your. We will have our Module 7 CBA test on Friday. The words tested are: down, so, what, back, this, tell, deck, ship, chin, when, that, puff, pass, chop. We have been working on digraphs the past couple of weeks (2 letters that come together to make 1 sound Ex: sh, th, ch, wh, ph, ck) We are also working on the floss rule: ss, ll, ff at the end of a word. When listening to or reading a story it's very important to understand the details and story comprehension. Ex: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? Please continue to work on letters and letter sounds.

In math we will be completing our subtraction unit, subtracting numbers up to 10. Our test will be on Friday.

In social studies we will be working on Jobs People Do. In science we are working on plant and animal characteristics.

1st Grade

2nd Grade

In math we will continue to learn about multiplication and division. Please have your child practice their multiplication facts. All grades are caught up. Any zeros or low grades in the grade book, can be redone for a higher grade. Please reach out to me for any questions. -Ms.Lester


2A/2C ELA- Hope everyone had a happy Easter! This week we will finish up Module 8 and take our CBA 8 on Monday. Please go back and make sure your child passed this assessment to ensure it doesn't affect their overall grade for ELA. We will start Module 9: Home Sweet Habitat on Tuesday. We will review prefixes and compound words. We will learn how living things in a habitat depend on each other. We will review figurative language and ask/answer questions in the story "The Long, Long Journey." We will learn about contractions for grammar and how to do research for writing. Please message me on Dojo to sign up for a time for parent teacher conferences or call the front office. Don't forget to bring water bottles to school. -This week we will be taking our end of unit CBA #8 Test! We will begin unit 9 and learn about how to use context clues to identify unknown words. We will be working on spelling compound words. Please make sure students are reading for at least 20 minutes every day to help their reading skills and comprehension. -Ms. Brown

This week students will begin a new unit - Biological Evolution. We will be studying characteristics of plants. Our lessons this week include fun, hands-on activities your students can complete at home. Please check dojo regularly and make sure students are completing all assignments with a 70 or higher.-Mrs. A. Martinez

3rd Grade

This week in 3rd grade math we will take a test over Measurement. The test will cover the topics of time, area, perimeter, capacity, and weight. Students have been given study information and may use it on their test. After the Measurement test, we will begin our unit on Data Analysis. In this unit, students will solve questions about bar graphs, pictographs, dot plots, and frequency tables. Please check Dojo for more updates! -Ms. Curtis

This week we will take our end of unit CBA #8 Test! We will begin unit 9 and learn about the difference in a fact and an opinion. We will be spelling words with the suffixes -ly, -ful, -er. Please make sure students are reading for 20 minutes every day to help their reading skills and comprehension. -Ms. Brown

This week students will begin a new unit - Plants & Animals. We will be studying producers, consumers, decomposers, and their roles in the food chain. Please check dojo regularly and make sure students are completing all assignments with a 70 or higher.-Mrs. A. Martinez

We will take our Writing STAAR test on Tuesday. We will finish the week with text structure and different kinds of communication. -Mrs. Driver

This week students will begin a new unit - Organisms and Environment. We will be studying producers, consumers, and decomposers. 5th Grade

Hello Parents,


We are into the 3rd week of Quarter 4 and preparing for the upcoming final STAAR Reading Test on May 12th. I will be contacting parents with practice STAAR test results, and offering help to struggling students. Please check your dojo each day for communication. This week in Reading we are analyzing connections between paired text and the elements of poetry. Students are required to keep up with their daily exit tickets and assignments. Please remind your student to be present on the zoom on time with cameras on. Grades are updated for the ELA class. Please check your child's grades in Skyward and have them go back and complete any missing assignments or low graded assignments. If your child does complete a late assignment, please send me a message so I can update it ASAP. We are almost halfway through the last quarter and student's focus should be on doing their best to complete assignments and study to pass to the next level to get to Sixth grade. Attendance is crucial now! Let's finish strong!-Mrs. Dunford

Hello 5th grade parents and guardians!

We are finishing our unit on data analysis and will have our unit

test on Tuesday, April 6. Our last unit before the STAAR Test will be personal financial literacy. We will be talking

about the different types of taxes, including property tax, sales tax, income tax, and payroll tax. We will also

learn the difference between gross income and net income. Please make sure your child is joining the live zoomsessions in order to get the full classroom discussion. Thanks for all you do! -Ms. Piscacek
