Superintendent Visit
This morning our new Superintendent, George Rafferty, will be coming to visit Hartford School this morning. Don't be shy and say hi!
PARCC
As you know, we will begin PARCC testing on the Tuesday after Spring Break. Due to the needs of our students and new PARCC regulations, we had to be creative when it comes to student groupings which will require everyone to be flexible during this testing period. We may have to pull classroom teachers to test other groups of students that may not be yours and supply you with sub coverage. Thank you ahead of time for your cooperation.
Students and Medication
We know that many of our students take medication for a variety of reasons. This may be a topic of discussion when you speak privately with colleagues and some of your students may volunteer to inform you if they have or have not taken their dose for the day. Because, students can be so willing to share this information, at times we may become relaxed and ask students if they've taken medication on a day where they may seem out of sorts. Please do not ask any child if they have taken their medication. It is a violation of the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). This is legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information.
Thank You to the Mount Laurel Magic
Thank you to all of the teachers that participated in the March Madness basketball game with the Harlem Wizards. The event was a success which means we will hopefully keep the same number of clubs we had this year.
Field Day/NOCC Walk
We have a date! Field Day is set for Monday 6/13 with a rain date for Wednesday 6/15. It will also be the date of the 1st annual National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Walk in memory of Tracy. As we get closer to the date more details will follow.
Classroom Keys and Lockdown
We have a number of teachers that share classrooms due to scheduling. For example, PE teachers using the classroom of a HR teacher or a teacher swapping their classroom with another teacher because they need more space for an activity. If someone is using your classroom, the classroom key must be left with that teacher so that they can lock the classroom door in the event of a drill or an emergency. On a positive note, Monday's lockdown drill was one of the best we have had in a long time.
April Faculty Meeting Change
To avoid having a meeting right after coming back from Spring Break, the faculty meeting will be held on 4/11. April's Admin/Team meetings will be cancelled.
mSGP scores coming soon!
Teacher mSGP scores will be arriving shortly. If you remember, mSGP scores are used to calculate a teacher's overall rating for a school year. During your annual we will provide you with your overall rating from the 2014-15 school year.
Field Trips
If you are planning on taking your students on a Field Trip, it would be in your best interest to schedule it in the near future. Transportation and the availability of a nurse is quickly filling up.
Finally!
Please enjoy your Spring Break. Spend some quality time with your children, grandchildren, and family. Relax and take time to take advantage of the great weather. Use it as a way to get rejuvenated and refuel your bus. We are beginning to make the final turn to our destination and we are going to need every ounce of fuel to remain on the bus.
