Message from the Principal

Dear Virginia Lake Families,

Wow! What an amazing start to what is going to be an incredible school year! We enjoyed welcoming our students back. Thank you to our amazing PTA for hosting the Back-to-School Homecoming Picnic Thank you to all of our families that attended the event. Thank you, to the Early Byrds for the fantastic live music!

During the first week of school, we have been working on creating an efficient arrival and dismissal process. Our buses have been running late, but we anticipate they will be timely next week as the drivers get familiar with their students.

During dismissal at Virginia Lake, we are asking that students who are car riders, remain in the building. This will be ideal for students in the cold winter months. When you are in the car rider lane, please stay in your vehicle. If you drive to Virginia Lake, park your car, and walk to meet your child, your child is considered a walker. If you have a change in your child's transportation, please send a note or an email to your child's teacher. If it is last minute, please notify us at least 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day.

Please sign your child’s lanyard every morning to certify they are healthy. This will assist us during arrival.

Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, August 26th. A flyer was sent home with your child that includes information about ordering photos of your child.

Parent Orientation is also scheduled for Thursday, August 26th. Presentations from classroom teachers will occur with the following schedule.

Grades 4-6: 6:30-7:00 p.m.

Grades K-3: 7:10-7:40 p.m.

Teachers will share links to provide a virtual option for families.

Math instruction begins on Monday. We have several students in the building who qualified for advanced math placements. Your child’s homeroom teacher may be teaching one of the courses. We will send home letters with students in Grades 3-6 with the math teacher’s names on Monday.

Let’s make it a great week!

With Kindest Regards,

Patti Van Winkle, Principal
